That's right, I'm putting my own spin on the new MOG theme Toxic Tuesday because I'm not a big fan of posting music I don't like. Plus, I'm a HUGE fan of what they call Toxic Dancehall.
I 1st heard the phrase Toxic Dancehall as a description for The Bug's music, somewhere around the time he was working with Rootsman (2001? maybe). I'm not sure what the proper definition of Toxic Dancehall is, but I use it to describe music that's clearly influenced by dancehall but firmly rooted in the electronica/noise traditions. Since the term was probably invented specifically for The Bug's sound, I dedicate my 1st Toxic Dancehall Tuesday post to the Godfather of the genre:
The Bug + Flowdan "Skeng":
Dunno why I haven't posted this video before, especially since it actually features Flowdan!
The Bug vs. The Rootsman- Killer Queen(feat. Warrior Queen):
POSSIBLY NOT SAFE FOR WORK OR MINORS?!
This is the noise-tastic Toxic Dancehall style that first turned me on to THE BUG! I still use any excuse to drop this track into any dj set...
One of the first Warrior Queen tunes I owned on vinyl is "Aktion Pak" by The Bug:
By now you might be thinking, "OK, cool. But what does that leave for next week, and the week after that?" Believe it or not, The Bug isn't the only one chopping and screwing dancehall tunes. Tune in next week, to hear another one of my fave Toxic Dancehall artists of all time!

Well what can I say?
I'll gladly suffer this toxicity!
Big tunes Empress Molli!!!!
I gotta get that Skeng track... They ride the riddim so nice and it would be perfect for a downtempo Steppers set. It might get played out this week
Give thanks and praises.
