New Yeah Yeah Yeahs Album: It's Blitz! With More Kittens & Chicks

Posted 10 months ago

The awaited and anticipated new Yeah Yeah Yeahs album is called:

It's Blitz!

The band posted this to their blog/site today:

Hey everybody! Just so everyone's on the same page we want you all to know that we are releasing a BRAND NEW record this spring and drum roll please...we'll let Geronimo the raccoon and the baby chicks take it away from here...love YYYs

This would be the album they recorded on a farm in between hurling cow patties at each other, right? And if memory serves me, that farm happens to be Conor Oberst's farm where he built a recording studio from the ground up? Well, it was a farm anyway. Here's what they said about the place at the time:

one thing the city don't have that the country got is SPACE and there has been plenty of spacing out in the studio as of late.

...

Fuzzy soft muses aka kittens have played a major role in the writing process of YYYs current and past records. Show Your Bones was written in Sam Spiegel's home studio amidst the birth of a litter of kittens, little gold lions scrambling around. Amazingly therapeutic, nothing turns a frown upside down (there are many frowns in the record writing process) as a purring kitten in your lap. Alas our favorite kitten of all beloved SQUEAKER arrived just in time for record three! Abandoned by his mother, we've watched him grow before our very eyes from a blind and helpless little thing into a frisky and fierce little beauty- much like the tunes we're writing. Go figure.

I have a feeling this will be their best album yet! Can't wait to hear new tunes from my #1 fave punk/rock band...

I like them very much.  I'm not sure if the songs on the media link on their website are new or old (the videos), but if they are new, then they have improved with time and that is very good.

Kittens and cats take the bad out of you in seconds flat.

Oh and Little Ms. Fire....what's this i hear about a group from a few years back?

You know.... a group that had a guitarist who likes Amy Sol art....

Where oh where can i find a play button on that one?

    please do tell....

i mean i'm already a huge fan of the aforementioned but i think i'd be over the edge bonkers if i was given the chance to see or hear her play.

Well Molli Tell Indiana that you found the drummer that I won't hunt

    down & thrash.

This groop sounds great & you will never find a group any good that

does not have the leader of song, tempo and timing, The Drummer!

Ask the Beatles, to them they said they had it all because of Ringo.

well that's what i get for not reading my MOG Gazette on the day it comes out!   i had no idea where you got that from yummyG!  now i get it.  those 2 bands have been on hiatus for quite some time, but i still play the songs on my 12-string electric guitar.  perhaps a reunion show is due!

thanks for noticing and keeping me on my toes!

As for drummers - not quite sure what yr talking about elmanolete (please tell me which group yr referring to) but Orkus had 2 drummers at all times!  Clan of the Bleeding Eye only had one but he was siiick!  The songs are very tribal, so the drumming was tribal, but with 2 drummers, the beats would get intense!

Oops - i forgot, we changed the name to Orcus when we found out there was already a metal band called Orkus.  sorry for the confusion (and not knowing how to spell my own band name...)  i doubt there's anything on the internet about us, so i'll try to find some tunage to post.

Mollifire, I have & ongoing joke with Indiana!

He will send me a group for my opinion and about three times

in a row, I told him that the drummers were so bad that I would

be gone awhile, I was going to hunt these drummers down & give them a thrashing!!? Ha Ha.

Great post!  Didn't realize they recorded the album on a farm.  I'm even more intrigued.

Thanks for posting the terrific photo, GarageRock!
