I'm a firm believer in bending time and space, TARDIS technology and timelines in the shape of a coil/spring shape. Therefore, I feel no shame in posting my Funky Friday post on a Monday. Coz Funky Friday should keep on funkin until the next Friday if need be.
A band I really got into this time last year is The Budos Band from Staten Island. Another Afro-influenced U.S. band, something like Chopteeth, but more laid back.
The Budos Band - "Volcano Song":
And on the more psychedelic-lounge tip, here is "Origin of Man":
Their bio on their label's site, World's Fair Records, lists the members thusly:
Eleven pieces in all, their group consists of drums, bass, guitar, electric organ, two trumpets, baritone saxophone, and a percussion section employing bongos, congas, tambourine, guiro, clave, shekere and cowbell.
You can download "Chicago Falcon" for FREE/legal plus stream 2 more songs on their page at World's Fair:

It's been a while since I dedicated a post, but this one goes out with BIG UPS to Cody B. I'm hoping to learn more about funk and dig some tunes out of my collection for next Friday's Funk-Fu...

I like the second one, even though I thought I was about to watch a James Bond flick.
Ine of my first recommends I took up from a MOGGER..Still dig 'em.
Sweet, they share a few members with Menahan Street Band I think.
This really sends me. I just heard this for the first time last week being played in a used CD store in Lancaster PA. I was salivating to buy it but they didn't have a copy in stock for sale. I'm hot on its trail. And here it is. Great video too.
