
Almost as if in response to Metallica's u-turn on free digital downloads, Radiohead frontman Tom Yorke was quoted as saying he does not expect his band to repeat the 'experiment' it launched by releasing In Rainbows as a "pay-what-you-will" digital download.
"Yes. It was a one-off in terms of a story. It was one of those things where we were in the position of everyone asking us what we were going to do. I don't think it would have the same significance now anyway, if we chose to give something away again. It was a moment in time," said Yorke.

Ultimately it was a publicity stunt rather than a viable retail model. Free singles, $5 album seems to be working for Trent though.
