i remember when i was first introduced to these guys, i was excited because i was a fan of both the Dead Boys and the Damned - and we had members of both here - Stiv Bators, mister Dead Boy - doing vocals, and Brian James of the Damned (hell - who *wasn't* in the damned at one point...)on guitar... plus we got Dave Tregunna of Sham 69 on bass and Nicky Turner of the Barracudas on drums - full on dark punk noise! i thought....
and then - i heard something totally unexpected. This band was smooth and good and dark - and it was pushing towards some glam goth psychobilly world takeover.
it perhaps wasn't for everyone - but - it was the early 80's - and i loved it.
while my first favorite track was the punky Die Kruezen sounding "Apocalypso", perhaps because i thought the name was great, but then i slowly became a huge fan of the other two stand out tracks on this album - "Livin' on Livin" and "Open Your Eyes". I guess i could feel my New Wave coming on, and also - having been a fan of Stiv Bators dead boy stylings, i was just so impressed by the solidity of his vocals - and it felt like something new and wonderful.
For me, this was one of those influential albums that helped shape many of my musical tastes - it helped me open my eyes...
