Alright. just to start off on a good note. the kind of note where you say "ok, i am going to take this seriously and post at least 3 times a week... at least..."so i was just kind of shuffling songs around, and i came across this old one by Veruca Salt.now, i know some people love' em, some people don't, and i've gone back and forth a few times - but i can't help it - i love this song. it's not in my top whatever list, but when i hear it - it brings back good memories of working in record stores and rocking out behind the counter. it's kind of interesting, but this song sort of draws a line in my mind between alternative and mainstream. this came out in 1994 - and was on both minty fresh and geffen - it's kind of like before this, there was alternative and mainstream. after this, alternative was mainstream. Perhaps 1991 was the official date this happened - with the release of Nevermind - but that could be looked at the beginning of the end. perhaps it just took "alternative music", as an alternative to the mainstream and not just as a genre within it, 3 years or so to die. but i'm not going to go off on some essay rant here - it was just in my mind - all i wanted to do, actually - was share the Seether... because, well...you can't fight the seether.-m
