MUSIC CHATTER AND MATTER

Pop Success

Posted over 3 years ago
Julieta Venegas, the ex-indie darling of Mexico, whom chose to sign to a record label and release a pop album, is at it again. Limón y Sal is the follow up to her greatly successful spanish pop album Sí.Limon y Sal is possibly the best pop album of the year. At first listen some of her lyrical choices and song compositions seem awkward, but the feeling quickly passes, as Julieta's voice and mastery of both tradition and pop make an album that is as refreshing as its title suggest. The only misstep seems to come in the ruckus of Primer Dia. Still Primer dia is a great song for what it is, and doesn't distract too much from the pop.You should download/buy: No Sere, Sin Documentos, Eres Para Mi.Check out her other Albums: Sí, Bueninvento, and her song from The Amores Perros soundtrack.

  1. Spencer Owen says Ooh, I didn't know she had a new one. I like Si (favorite songs are the first two) and Bueninvento though I find them uneven. But hey, if this one's as good, I'll keep listening. Thanks for the heads up.
