The Squirrel Nut Zippers, are one of those bands, that as my friend Julie puts it, after an album or two, you pretty much got all you can get from the band. SNZ, for all of you living under a rock, or dare I say it to young be cognizant of such things in the late 90's to know, is a band that makes it home in a 20's, jazz, big band revival.
Personally I think they did it rather well, and earned the bit of fame they got, but as of late, i would rather consider them a bit under appreciated. Especially the song Meant To Be, which to this day is one of my favorite "old tyme" love songs. I understand that Katharine Whalen's voice might not be every one's cup of tea, I find there is some great sincerity in her voice. ITs the kind of song that I think I would like to dance with my significant other on a rainy day, when we're stuck in doors with nothing to do but fire up the old itunes jukebox. Play it and Ella Fitzgerald doing Someone to Watch Over Me, and i'm so money.
