The other day I was cycling my thighs off (ok, trying to), watching bimbos on CNN pretend to give a shit that Great Britain is under terrorist attack (fyi, I do give a shit, please, all my friends in the U.K., do not hold me in the same bucket with the people who run the mainstream media in my country), I started getting really mad, and peddling faster, and wondering what the hell peddling faster was going to get me. It's not like peddling faster was going to get me cycling out of that gym. And then my shuffle turned up this gem from my lost youth:It's a small world and it smells funny.I'd buy another if it wasnt for the money.Take back what I paid,For another motherfucker in a motorcade.I'm telling you, more apropos words could not have been shouted into my ear at that moment. And then today, new evidence that the United States is actual the Police State run by George W. Bush and Dick Cheney: pardoning Libby. It's great that the Republican party has resurrected the time-honored practice of pardoning complete criminals so they can prove they are truly above the law to the rest of us schmucks who pay our parking tickets and our taxes. I'm starting to wonder if there are any laws left in our precious Constitution that they haven't shat on. Right now, I can't think of one. This morning I read in the local paper that Hilary Clinton has fallen behind Barack Obama in the fund-raising game. Good, but she still managed to find $27 million dollars last quarter. 27 MILLION DOLLARS!!! Who the hell is funding this woman, and do they not know what the word aristocracy means? Doesn't anyone else see that electing Hilary Clinton would mean we'd have put our country into the hands of just two families over the course of two generations? Doesn't anyone remember the problems our poor little country got into in our infancy when we kept electing Adams? Oh, that's right . . . No Child Left Behind only teaches abstinence, not history, right? Jesus Please Us . . .How did we get this far, this fast? I think well-meaning people in Germany might have been saying the same thing about, say, 1934. That might sound drastic, but ladies and gentleman, this country is run by a shadow government that thinks Jesus is going to come back after we blow the Middle East to bits. Personally, I'm scared to death. I don't believe in that version of Jesus, I don't believe we need to put a missile defense system in Siberia, Bulgaria, or any other starving Eastern European country, and I don't think we need to arm terrorists in Iraq to fight, um, terrorists in Iran. I think that's what got us another shadowy government, run by a guy named Saddam Hussein. We need to get our asses on bio-fuels, figure out how to save the planet and stop trying to save all the other countries of the world with our guns. Zero tolerance has gotten us nowhere but zero new recruits in a military without proper resources that is being raped by every cheap contractor west of the Mississippi. Can we start again, please? Please.

  1. The Serenity Vortex says The SOM are a cornerstone of my musical world. It's part of the reason why I am The Boy Flood. Floodland is one of the greatest albums ever in my musical universe. Any post about The SOM rules in my book. Respect mktackabery :)

  2. I am says MK your gonna make me cause a riot. I have been saving a special rant on the "Science" of evolution. Really what "science" uses faith as a component in empirical testing. For the love of God! Mabye it's about time I yank that gem out. Thanks for turning on the way back machine. I would listen to SOM back in the day when I was trying to be deader than dead and blacker than black. And thankfully Dick n Bush hasn't f'ed with Amendment "21":http://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/constitution.amendmentxxi.html and "22":http://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/constitution.amendmentxxii.html, Yet.

  3. mktackabery says ^do it, do it, rant, rant, rant!! at least there are TWO they haven't shat upon! Allah forbid they try to run over 22, I will go postal!!! I agree with you, the whole "creationist" and "intelligent design" stuff drives me crazy!! That museum in Kentucky, or wherever it is, that teaches people that our planet is only 6000 years old and there were no dinosaurs . . . oh my goodness, get with the program!! Sam Harris was so right. How can you use a book that contradicts itself in its first two sentences, not to mention about every other paragraph, and say that every word in it is true? Did God not give you a brain? arrrggggh. Flood ::: you know I love you; respect back at ya. :)

  4. I am says The museum is in Kentucky (there are many more across this confused nation of ours) and it was the fuse that shot my rocket off. Check out their "site":http://www.creationmuseum.org/. It is bewildering. You know God isn't even mentioned on their home page, for that matter in the About us section. I ask, "Why not?" This quote cracks me up: *Life began in a garden ...* Buzzz, wrong again. Life began in shit soup. That's science.

  5. Rawkkiddoh says Damn Michelle, can you get an amen. Saw the same bits of "news" today and was as equally outraged. Bush, well I only hope he doesnt sink the US any deeper than it already is. The fund raising thing, well that made me think how is that important when choosing a leader. When I was in sixth grade, I was the top fund raiser while selling candy for our baseball team. Felt pretty good, didnt think it made me the captain. Yet, they are out there getting millions upon millions, all for what. I wish we could get someone in office with a bit of honesty and would concentrate on making our country great again. Lastly, music when pissed off and excersising, well its the best way to go. Nothing beats a hard run with some blood pumping music in my ears after a tough day. Well, my turn on the soap box is done, carry on

  6. mktackabery says thanks Kevin, I agree; getting people to write you a check requires a lot of sucking up, and is that the kind of leader we really want? and may I say the new avatar rawks.

  7. chucky says 1. He'll be gone soon although his legacy will haunt us for a long while. 2. Neither Hillary nor Obama are going to be the next president. We haven't progressed to the point where even a perfect woman or black man could get elected and they aren't even perfect. 3. I share your frustration - not the specifics, but in general. I keep telling myself this situation is not as unique as it seems, that shit like this has been going on forever and that we will survive it. 4. I've never owned an Sisters of Mercy but as soon as I hit play I *knew* this song. And I can't figure out from where. I *love* this song. (Sometimes I can only think if I order my thoughts ^. Heh.)

  8. Augusts1 says I just saw Michael Moore's movie "Sicko" & according to him Hillary, who used to fight for socialized healthcare, is now being bought off by the healthcare industry who have contributed millions to her campaign. A very sad state of affairs indeed. Bush recently signed a bill(I don't recall the name of it right now) regarding Homeland Security basically giving him the right to do as he pleases in extreme situations of terrorist threat. Basically the article that I read about it was stating that Bush could end up getting a longer term or another term, circumventing the election process in a "national emergency". Don't be too surprised if come election time next year a "huge crisis" arises that W. needs to use that law to keep him in office longer. More than likely another 9/11 will be staged by the government again in order to accomplish W's goal! And don't even get me started on the whole religion in politics, or religion in general. The religious right choose to follow a *BOOK OF FAIRY TALES* & believe that _everyone_ should live by it's premises. Fuck! I despise religion, it's so fucked up our society and yet oh look our country continues to get worse in spite of their double talking/living. SOM are great, great song too! So good to listen to when needing to release anger & frustration. Music *IS* the balm that soothes anything that ails us!!! Ok, I'm getting down off the box now!

  9. Dale says I saw that news on MSN and almost fell out of my chair. Bush commuted Libby's sentence?!? That's it, all pretense has been removed. They're not even giving us KY first before they shaft us. I keep waiting for the next statesman, the next great one to come forth and lead this country back to where it belongs, and I'm not seeing it on either side. Even my boy Romney hasn't done a thing to impress me, and if he thinks he's getting my vote b/c he's Mormon, he's in for a shock. Here's the sad, scary truth; the best and brightest are busy making all the money and looking out for number one, so we get left with the dregs in politics. Nothing will change until we get someone with the brains and courage to steer this ship back on course, who's willing to take the massive pay cut to be in office. Until then, it's more lies, lies, lies. Holy cow, I'm jaded! You know full well how much I like the Sisters as well. Mmmmm

  11. kaleef says AMEN SISTER! things are fucked, aren't they? any which way to you turn. sweet jesus, i am scared to death for us all. i thank the energy that be for the lovely gift of music to raise our spirits/anger and also clear our head when it swirls with misanthrope. and we need to show this planet some freaking stewardship!

  12. debi says In today's paper was a Doonesbury cartoon that shows the truth of our government - if you didn't see it - here's a link. Cheney's take on the 3 branches of government. "Doonesbury":http://www.uclick.com/feature/07/07/03/db070703.gif And if you haven't yet seen Sicko - someone on Mog posted a link to a source online to view it - I'm not condoning "stealing" movie revenues but I did watch this one. I will go see it again when its in local theater - its that good :) Very telling of what we value in the good ole' USA

  13. The Serenity Vortex says You all do know that Bush has passed his own law that gives him dictator powers in times of 'national emergency'. He did this without congress. He signed this law himself. He can send troops where he wants, cancel elections, seize ANY assets from any business, military and civilian source. That is only the start of it: "This link takes you to the Whitehouse website where you can read it":http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/05/20070509-12.html

  14. mktackabery says Dale ::: me too, looking hard for that statesman, dreamer who can give us something to hold on to, a common cause that we can grasp hold of, and change our country. Ivy ::: what, there are colored people in our country? surely you jest. I am SO TIRED of racism. You know, we all grew up hearing that all those battles were fought and won, why the hell do people keep bringing this back, up, over, inside our lives? arrggh. The new Court is a nightmare. Just a nightmare. kaleef ::: i'm with you, thank goodness for music or I would lose it and end up with a gun. Music saves me in so many ways. debi ::: i do intend to watch that movie. I write about drug products for a living, and i can assure you that pharmaceutical companies have not an ounce of altruism in their evil, cold, dead bones. we recently settled about 700 fen-phen lawsuits, and my favorite quote from one of the slimeballs we depo'd was "nobody cares what happens to fat people." Flood ::: that is the scariest thing of all. You know that's EXACTLY what Adolf Hitler did just before he seized control of Germany, and pretty soon it was too late. The only thing we're missing are the storm troopers, but perhaps those National Guard recruting ads that are wallpapering my local movie theater are really about that?

  16. quagmire of quirk says I am so with you, mk - I second [or third or fourth or fifth] your emotion, intellectual outrage, and sense of utter injustice. I was flabbergasted, gobsmacked, w/o words, stupefied, and pissed as hell that Bush had commuted Libby's sentence. And then, David Brooks, who usually displays a modicum of sense, of NYTimes claims that "the American people"(God, I'm so F-ing tired of that phrase and the total cipher of meaning that it is) aren't interested in this issue. Well, who the heck has he been talking to? or maybe, like so many in his camp, he has been living with his head stuck up where the sun doesn't shine. That has to be why he is so ill informed...
