WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

In Praise Of Good Songwriters, Part 5

Ebuzz's post about Everything But The Girl put me in mind of their great cover of this Cyndi Lauper gem, probably the best song she ever wrote. Here's her doing it most recently on the Martha show:

  1. TroyPowers says I absolutely LOVE this song! But, why does Cyndi Lauper automatically make me think of Pat Benetar?

  2. Spike says Lovely. It's great to see somene in this age of missiles playing a dulcimer. She has a great voice. When was this from? She looks as young as when she had her first hits.

  4. ebuzzmiller says Yep, great song. Cyndi actually co-wrote this with Rob Hyman of The Hooters (remember them?) and Time After Time has been covered by over 120 artists!!! I saw Cyndi live twice - once in 1984 at Stonybrook University on Long Island, on her "She's So Unusual" Tour. She absolutely killed. The I saw her about 20 years later at the Joni Mitchell tribute in NYC, she performed "Carrie", and nobody else who played that night came anywhere near the musicality and emotion of her performance. Thank God for YouTube - here it is:

  8. kellywatchthestars says Back in the day, there were two kinds of girls. Those that wanted to be Madonna and those that wanted to be Cyndi Lauper. I belonged to the latter. This is a great tune - the video always made me want to cry!
