The Beats Done Her In

Posted almost 5 years ago
We are the stars which sing; we sing with our light. We are the birds of fire, we fly over the sky.Our light is a voice; we make a road for the spirit to pass over..And so I sat at home waiting for the mail. I knew the painful bardo was soon to come upon me. The bardo of dying.I read again the words of Padmasambhava from the cycle of The Tibetan Book of the Dead:Now when the bardo of dying dawns upon me,I will abandon all grasping, yearning, and the attachment,Enter undistracted into clear awareness of the teaching,And eject my consciousness into the space of the unborn Rigpa; As I leave this compound body of flesh and blood,I will know it to be a transitory illusion..I knew that only two things would count when I entered the bardo: what I had done in my lives, and what state of mind I was in at the moment of my death. I focused on my breathing and the clear white light that would embrace me when I saw the Ground Luminosity. When I would join the others who had been enlightened. My husband found me on my cushion. The incense burned and my focus was on the clear light. He walked slowly towards me. How innocent he looked as he delivered the fatal blow. My assassin, Matt Cleveland, was ice cold in his delivery of my death. He hired a skillful contract killer, bendblock, to accomplish the means by which I would be enlightened. And so my husband advanced. "Honey," he said. "Who do you know in Arkansas?"Instantly my serenity was disrupted. I had demanded an enthnotronix mix; no English vocals allowed. I had to know. I had to hear if my demands had been fulfilled. Screw the Ground Luminosity; I was hungry for the tribal beats of the world. I leaped from my cushion and tore open the package to view the track listing:1. Intro Beats - The Prodigy2. Ty Versus Detchibe - Prefuse 73 Feat. Tyondai Braxton3. Explanation Mark - The Books4. Alhamdulillah II (Malay Version) - Too Phat Feat. Dian Sastrowardoyo, Yasin, and Daly of Ahlifiqir5. Shudder/King of Snake Intro - Underworld6. Eclectric - M. Lumpkin7. Digeridoo - Aphex Twin8. Pagina Dos - Prefuse 739. Tokyo - The Books10. Bad Memory Interlude One - Prefuse 7311. Who Is It (Carry My Joy on the Left, Carry My Pain on the Right) - Bjork/Tagaq12. Southerners (Interlude) - Prefuse 7313. 7th Message - Prefuse 7314. Cheb Khaled - Cheb Mami15. Ala Canggung (Do You Wanna Have a Party?) - Too Phat Feat. Lil' Marissa16. Blaise Bailey Finnegan III - Godspeed You! Black Emperor17. Life Death w/ Mikah 9 - Prefuse 7318. Alhamdulillah *Bonus Track - Too Phat. Feat Yassin19. Een Nieuw Begin *Bonus Track - DisneyAnd thus, was my assassination accomplished, for the evil Mr. Cleveland and his dastardly accomplice struck me where I lived. In the blink of any eye, the Ground Luminosity sped past me, and I was a spirit going the wrong way on the journey: back to the darkness. I currently reside in the long line of travelers who must now descend back into earthly bodies to re-learn the lessons they have failed to learn on their most recent turn of the wheel. I am on the bridge. We make a road for the spirit to pass over. I am in the darkness, heavy with the earth. I will return to take up the natural bardo of life once more. Pray Buddha my work in the next life will allow me to defeat such challenges to my serenity again. Til' then, the beats and the voices from the other lands, they are binding me to this earth.Outò, ba mwen son ou,e; Outò, ba mwen son ou,e.Tanbouyè, o ba mwen son ou; Solèy lève.Outò, give me your sound.Outò, give me your sound.Drummer, give me your sound. The sun rises.

  3. Augusts1 says Oh shit, I'm a twindow now, wtf am I to do? (sobbing)I don't think I'll ever replace my twin of another mother. Sniff, sniff! I guess I'll just have to hold ongoing seances to talk to you now, hehehe. You really should have informed your hubby of the impending doom! So sad. And how do you rate to get two, count 'em, two assassins? Some people just don't think one is enough. Talk about excessiveness! Interesting mix though. And to the assassins, NICE KILL even though I'm a twindow now, heh!

  8. matt cleveland says Well, I guess I'm killing from beyond the grave... I also guess I didn't get the only non-English part of the theme. I mixed in other languages in with the beats and found and natural sounds.
And as for the hired muscle...it sounded like you requested a sampling of his music library.

  18. Beardywierdy says I confess I'm ignorant of the man, but Rankin paints a tangled web of Jesus, his sister, the Devil, Elvis and Barry the Time Sprout, in a post holocaust society driven by media power and separated by weath. But rises above all of this to be a riot of a read.
