Opening Practice: ACC Basketball in the Triangle

Posted over 2 years ago
NC State, North Carolina, and Duke all begin opening practice tonight at seven p.m. Eastern along with the rest of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Locally, State and Duke are having closed practices for their first night, but Carolina is having their usual schmooze fest where the players shoot layups, sign autographs for girls, and pretend they dont exist to sell UNC sports apparel. Okay, that was catty, but I'm not a Carolina fan so who cares? It's basketball time, baby. The most wonderful time of the year. The weather is perfect (72F right now) but there is a chill in the air from windy conditions, so hints of fall are all over the place - leaves blowing from trees and the thump, thump, thump of boys with balls on the street. Inside, older boys will be dreaming of ACC glory . . . the ACC championship . . . the Final Four . . . and jerseys hung in the rafters. Here's one for my special guys, the Wolfpack. I believe, and they believe, their time has come.

  3. Groon says I've never been able to get into basketball, college OR pro. If South Carolina is having a good year I might watch a game now and then, but other than that it just hasn't ever done much for me. I'm excited for you, though!

Anna: you don't have to know anything about basketball to appreciate these: Panathinaikos - Dimitris Diamantidis Olympiakos - Arvydas Macijauskas NC State - Ben McCauley
