  4. PopeyePete says I never listened to DD when they were popular but I rediscovered them in college and they really made good music. It holds up really well.

  5. Lizziegreeneyes says It really does... still remember jamming out to DD in college (after falling for them in grade school) & to this day (almost 33 years on this blue/green marble) I still love their music. Same said for Depeche Mode, New Order, The Cure, The Smiths, Psychadelic Furs, Echo & the BMen... most of the new wave sort that still rock it today (a lot of them at least) !!!

  7. PopeyePete says I like New Wave in doses. Id say 90% of the time Im listening to other kinds of music (my MP3 players on shuffle) but I always have days where I like to put on some 80s NW band mixes. Its def one fave genre of music of mine. But as you can see from my mog I listen to all kinds. :)

  10. Dale says That bass line John Taylor beats out is good enough for Funky Friday. This wasn't the song or video that got me (that honor goes to "Rio"), but this is the song that made me dig through their back catalog. And I got so much abuse in middle school from the guys for liking Duran Duran.

  11. mktackabery says August ::: just another reason why I love you. Lucy ::: me to! this was the song that made me a DD fan for life. Lizzie ::: of course, your taste is impeccable as always. LOL Dale, I'm sorry to hear that! I got abused too, but I didn't care. When I was a sophomore in college, two of my best friends and I went to see DD on the Seven and the Ragged Tiger tour when they played at . . . wait for it . . . Clemson University. Gack! Yes, I endured the orange and the purple to see my boys in eyeliner. What we will do for our music. But I digress. Anyway, we got back from the concert and of course on Monday we are all wearing our concert t's. First thing Monday, our philosphy professor takes one look at the three of us and asks, "What exactly is a Duran Duran?" A line that cracks my ass up so much I still fall of my chair, twenty years later. Maybe you had to be there, but it was some funny shit. Especially since my professor was a half bald little Machiavelli-worshipping Greek man.

  12. Wade says Michelle-good stuff-as one weaned on first generation MTV videos, I have to admit to really liking Hungry Like the Wolf, Rio, and others (although I would not have admitted this at the time), despite how over-popular these songs were. I think DD's extreme popularity (which they did milk for all it was worth) distracted from the quality of the music, which was really not bad at all
