In 2003, Annie Lennox released her second solo album, and to avoid the dreaded sophomore slump, she did an entire album of covers. If the world had not figured out where Annie's roots lie up to that point, there was no doubt after that release. They were, and have always been, in Detroit. One of the overlooked tracks on that album is one by the band that defined the Motown sound under Barry Gordy: The Temptations.

The production isn't necessarily that mind-blowing; Annie pushed a little Spanish-sounding guitar onto it and some trademark Eurythmics synth horns and flourishes. But, as Annie continues to do throughout her solo career, she let the song stand for itself, and if you listen, you can almost see the Temptations dancing behind her.
