"It's so terrible to have anyone in desperation of anything" -JH

Posted 8 months ago

Being part Cherokee, Jimi felt connected to the plight and frustrations of the American Indian, before Casinos came along. Nothing to do but sit around drinking all day (sad but mostly true in the 60's). And the story of Jimi's career was filled with frustrations too. He learned to deal with them because he had to eat, and wanted to keep playing the blues.
To illustrate the frustration of the American Indian, Jimi used a lot of "feed backing-anguish" and chaos during his dedication song to the American Indians and others being suppressed by society.

"It's so terrible to have anyone in desperation of anything"

In this track from the San Diego Sports Arena May 24th 1969, Jimi gets a dose of his own bad-luck during this track when a tube starts squealing after he angers his amplifier God's feelings at the 5:45 point. :-( (it stops exactly one minute later at 6:44) But then Jimi actually uses it to his advantage by playing THROUGH it and WITH it (just so you know, sometimes to quiet the squeal, you have to keep playing to override it.)! Thereby incorporating all the vibes, good and bad, into a poignant message about despair and needless death.

also restart the mp3 again and listen to what Jimi tells the audience at the start if you missed it the first time, he explains the meaning of the song.
(Jimi would have liked it to have known that we had listened to what he had to say.)
