So I've got a co-worker who has fairly similar musical tastes with me - I think I veer out into the harder end of the spectrum farther than he does, but we share a lot of good music between us.
Co-worker was kind enough to share with me a disc of some stuff one of his friends put together for him, and man there's some REALLY good stuff on here - Akron/Family being the stuff that's sticking best today. Akron/Family has a very simple and chill, yet lush folk vibe going on for most of the stuff I've got here (though a track called "Running, Returning" does have some supremely Neil Young overtones during the hectic guitar-fueled ending) ...

Anyhow, soft-rocking it on this post here is "Gone Beyond" from 2006's Meek Warrior. Enjoy, kiddos.
... Also, on the book front, I finally polished off Joe Hill's Heart-Shaped Box (really good, though the ending leaves just a tad bit to be desired on my end - certainly still a worthwhile read and an enjoyable book through and through, just not how I pictured wanting things to work out). Kickstarted Brendan Halpin's Long Way Back before bed the other day and had to force myself to put it down because I had some stuff to take care of. That's good reading, indeed.

Exciting indeed... Akron/Family have had some heads from a lot of knowledgeable people. You concur this, I see.

I like that. Interesting rhythms and clever acoustic interplay.
