WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Muzak potpourri.

Holy crap. Last week, I tossed my iPod on shuffle for a few errands I needed to drive around for here at work, and I think my little electronic wonder was stuck in the 1990's. In sequence (and lamely enough, deemed worthy enough of scribbling down by me for future reference):Pearl Jam - "Black (live)"Weezer - "Only in Dreams"Smashing Pumpkins - "Blue Skies Bring Tears electric"Pearl Jam - "Jeremy (live)"Pavement - "Nothing Ever Happens"Dinosaur Jr. - "The Pickle Song"Crazy. So my iTunes music library at home is now up to something in the 9,500 tracks range. I went through most of the library last night to make an 'uber' playlist (don't know how to type the u with the dots over it, sorry) so that if I'm only in the mood to hear REALLY good songs, I can toss that on and hit shuffle ... and even unfinished, that one playlist is at about 550 tracks (something like a day-and-a-half long lengthwise) ... Now, I think about songs I love that I don't own, and my vinyl and my cassettes and my CDs that I haven't ripped into iTunes yet (and goddamn, are there a lot of those), and it got me to thinking ---- I honestly do **REALLY** love music, because, well, I have a list of what amounts to 'my favorite songs' that's 550 songs long and not even close to complete.
OK. I should do work. I do, however, have an advance copy of The Dirtbombs' We Have You Surrounded in my clutches, and I suppose I'll scribe a quick 'graph or two about that if there's time later.

  1. brittanybf says your shuffle was really feelin' those 90s rockers. i've got a jonesin' for some weezer now that you mention them. in case you're ever feeling über anything again, option U and then type the u or whatever letter needs a lovely umlaut over it. (i'm such a geek!)
