A very FUNKY Sunday Under the Covers with Eddie Hazel

Posted over 2 years ago
So with contrabandwidth and Cody B both posting recently about the goodness of P-Funk and Eddie Hazel, I figured I'd continue the theme for a fine addition to Sunday Under the Covers ... Ladies and gentlemen, from Eddie Hazel's 1977 solo album Game, Dames and Guitar Thangs, here's a marvelously funky romp through The Mamas and the Papas' "California Dreamin'" ...

  1. Cody B says That sir is beyond the shillznit! Nice One! It was so cool how they added that bootleg material to the bonus tracks on the Rhino Handmade version..If you don't have that stuff, lemme know and I'll throw it up..

  2. Bartleby says Mister Gary, you've outdone yourself. First by combining SUC and FF. Secondly by matching the weather "all the leaves are brown and my sky is indeed grey." Nominated for Sunday Under the Cover of The Week

  3. mister gary at work again says Thank you much, Bartleby - I feel honored. Heh - Cody, so get this -- I scoured eBay for a while until I had a vinyl copy of Game, Dames and Guitar Thangs ... And then I bought the Jams From the Heart EP on CD shortly afterwards ... And, of course, sent off payment to Rhino the day I found out about the G,D,GT re-release with the Jams material. I think I'm a little unhealthy with the Hazel thing, heh. Managed to snag an (admittedly file-shared) copy of the Japanese Rest in P Hazel album not long ago too. Pretty cool, stuff - slightly more 'finished'/produced versions of the 'Jams' material plus a few other P-Funk instrumentals that were Eddie-centric ...
