WE DO THE MASHED POTATO AND THE FUNKY CHICKEN

sometimes disappointment turns into magic

Posted over 3 years ago
So this past weekend was ACL here in Austin. I didn't go. I didn't have the cash when the passes were cheap and when I did, didn't want to spend the $115. Instead I did what any self-respecting person with no money and some connections does goes to see free shows (well free if you know the right person). Friday night I went to see The Stills and Kings of Leon play. I didn't know much about The Stills. They were fine, not great but good. Poppy tunes. I enjoyed it. Next is where the disappointment kicks in...the Kings of Leon. I guess that I thought they would sound dirtier and more southern rock. I was sadly mistaken. Sometimes bands sound better on their albums than live. Never can fault a good producer to create magic. This was indeed the case with the show that I saw.but now all of you are clamoring for the magic. well i will tell you. after all this passed, we headed over to east city limits at red's scoot inn (if anyone comes for sxsw, they have amazing free shows there) and the adult swim space. here is where the night became good. the brothers and the sisters got on stage. i had heard rumors, but i wasn't prepared to be dancing my ass off. i will state that i had thrown my back out earlier that day and was in pain, but sometimes the music (and a few painkillers) make all the difference. the harmonies, the grooves it was all there. for your listening pleasure, ladies and gentlemen, follow the link:http://www.myspace.com/brothersandsistersmusicps - does anyone know how much it costs to tune a piano?

  2. Sureshot says Thanks, i'd heard of Brothers and Sisters but never heard their music before. They have a nice retro sound. I can hear everything from old soul to Gram Parsons in the tracks i listened to at MySpace.
