MOG MOG

MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

Artist:

Well, I was going to upload a song in this post, but despite it being within the size limit and being an mp3, it didn't work and I lost all my text. Boo!

So back to my post.

I downloaded one of Emilie Simon's albums a while back and fell in love with two of the songs I Wanna Be Your Dog and Chanson De Toile. (I Wanna Be Your Dog is a bit on the short side though! :( ) I love Chanson De Toile, it just sounds so haunting and I would love to hear more songs like that. I really wish that I had liked the rest of the album as much as those two songs, as from what I've seen of her music videos, they're brilliant (and you know I like my music videos) I think if she does more songs like those two, coupled with the videos, she has the potential to become one of my favourite artists.

I'd buy one of her albums if my HMV had it, but surprise, surprise they don't! I really wish the World Section would have more imports rather than just what's released here and collections of music from countries. I'd prefer to have CDs from artists that are huge in foreign countries. It would be an easy way to get into more world music, but oh well!

Shall try to upload the song later, but think Mog doesn't like it!

I dont think I have been into any record store that did not have a bad world music section. I have made my way up to canada many times, and as much as I like HMV, same old story as here in the states

How disappointing! So the only way to buy a world music CD from a big artist would be from a CD shop in that country, and it'd be hard to know what to buy because the selection would be so big. I'm thinking that I everytime I go on holiday I should buy a CD from the country I visit. I look up people on the net and hopefully find an artist/band I like. I'm going to France in the summer (and to Disney Land whoo!) so might pick up one of Emilie's albums.

Works for me, everytime I am in canada I pick up the latest by Jean LeLoup. Love that guy, and I hear he just put out another album
