Yes! Mika's new album coming soon!
So my copy of Mika Nakashima's new album Yes has been shipped and I hope to get it tomorrow. It's her first "proper" album since March 05 (since then she's released a Best Of and an album for the Nana film). But will it be as good as Music? Well the style is going to be a bit different from her previous works as it's got a gospel feel to it. I like the idea of the album having a theme and there will be some great laid back tracks on there, but will I be disappointed?Apart from Olivia's brilliant album The Cloudy Dreamer this year, the other jpop CDs I've bought have been kinda disappointing (apart from L'Arc en Ciel's Ray but that's from 1999) So I hope this album doesn't continue the trend (I've been reading mixed reviews so far). But at least the cover is really pretty! To prepare myself for Yes, I've been listening to all her other albums and last night listened to Music and it struck me how perfect the first 4 songs go together. One of which is Hi No Tori, which isn't one of my favourites at all, but when it's inbetween Sakurairo Mau Koro, Oborozukiyo Inori & Kumo no Ito, it just works so well. Plus it does have such a pretty PV. So Yes does have a bit to live up to, as Music contains my favourite ballad Oborozukiyo Inori and she surprised me with Fed Up. I hope I'll like it more than Love anyway - which probably isn't a popular opinon, as amongst fans it's thought of as one of her best albums, probably the best before Music. It's a jazz album, and although it does have some fantastic songs (Love Addict) when you're listening to the whole album, it can get a little....boring. It's by no means the most boring album I've heard, just needs a little variety, which was another reason why I liked Music. (I also really loved her first album True - noticed that True doesn't seem to get much love). Anyway to celebrate my getting Mika's new album tomorrow here's the first 4 tracks from Music:Sakurairo Mau KoroOborozukiyo InoriHi No ToriKumo no Ito
