...finally another post!

Posted over 1 year ago

I have not posted in absolute ages and it's down to nothing but pure lazyness! As I haven't been studying for some time now, I thought I really need to get my arse into gear and start Mogging again.

So to ease myself back, this will be a short post continuing where I left off - Tinie Tempah!

In a previous post (written about 8 months ago? eek!), I was loving Pass Out (which is a good track for Singstar by the way) and wondering if any of his future singles would be as good. And so far so good! Frisky was in a similar style to Pass Out and brilliant. And his latest Written In The Stars is great!

On first listen I thought it was maybe another generic hip hop song with some random singer on the chorus - but I was wrong to doubt this song. (I didn't actually mean that to rhyme) I just love the music in it - guitars, drums piano. I think the fact that it's not just another sample being looped around and features real instruments is what makes me love it! That and it sounds like it would be a great live track.

Anyway it's out this week, so should hopefully go to number 1. This would be a good thing as the UK Top 10 has been abysmal for the last month or so, though there has been the odd enjoyable song in there (like Katy On A Mission)

But nothing as bad as what must be the worst number 1 of the year or at least up there...Alexandra Burke's Start Without You. No wonder Radio 1 didn't playlist this! Produced by RedOne but it sounds like Alex got leftovers.

Sounds alright when it starts - bearable - but then the chorus hits and I think "who does this sound good to?". Sounds like a bad Eurovision entry (and I love Eurovision). And why are there half naked men nodding away in the video?

So to finish off here's some Tinie Tempah, (embedding disabled sadly):

And for those of you to feel inclined to here Alexandra Burke's Start Without You, enjoy:

I don't think Tinie Tempah's stuff has been released in N. America, but I listened on YouTube and it's a lot better than most stuff out there in the hip-hop/pop world right now. I like the electro influence. Our charts are topped right now by Eminem/Rihanna & Katy Perry...

I was actually reading an interview with him today and one of the questions was about breaking the US.  Don't think there are plans to currently but he prob will release stuff over there at some point.

I was surprised when Pass Out got to number 1 - I remember seeing it on the NME channel and thinking and "cool tune" but that it was going to just go unnoticed.  Glad it didn't though!  (Plus he's quite nice looking!)

Yep, same here with Eminem/Rihanna and Katy Perry - both still in the Top 10 over here.  The Eminem track just never did much for me (whereas Not Afraid was great) and I like Katy Perry but not really fussed about Teenage Dream.  It is a catchy song and I don't mind hearing it sometimes but....dunno sometimes just can't be bothered with it.

Still both Love The Way You Lie and Teenage Dream are preferable chart toppers to Start Without Out!
