Trinka Trinka is Olivia's first original album since The Cloudy Dreamer and with over a year and a half between the releases, highly anticipated amongst fans. Like The Cloudy Dreamer, and a number of her releases, Trinka Trinka is a mini-album made up of 6 tracks.

The CD design and cover art sets the mood for the album nicely. The cover consists of a strange mix of Olivia, a forest and kaleidoscope effects. The mystical feel is continued on the CD disc itself, which features Olivia's doodles of a princess.

The album opens with the title track Trinka Trinka and sounds quite "magical" and spacey before it turns into a pop-rock tune at the chrous. This album has come under some criticism from fans for sounding more upbeat and happier than some of her previous works - proof of which is in this song. Trinka Trinka is a phrase Olivia created to mean "excited, laugh, giggle and fun". Continuing the image from the CD art and designs she sings:

"Internal carousel cues an upright rainbow

Sending out a friendly glimmer"

Rain was the track used to promote this album and is a pop-rock song similar to Stars Shining Out though unfortunately not as good. That's not to say Rain is a bad track, Olivia's way of singing the verses is catchy and overall it is a fun song.

Next up is Because which lets the album down a bit. By no means a "bad" song, it's just quite average and with so few tracks on here already, it's a shame it's not up to the standard of the rest of the mini-album. It's a pop-rock ballad and is perfectly listenable but disrupts the flow of brilliant songs.

Trinka Trinka is back on the form with the totally brilliant Collecting Sparkles. It's a gorgeous electro inspired track which sounds quite ethereal in places. Olivia's vocals are also a higlight of the song.

Miss You is the second ballad of the album after Because. It's a relaxing song, opening with the gentle strum of a guitar and ethereal sound effects. The mood darkens slightly when the chorus comes in with a gorgeous electro sound. It also ties in with the look of the album around the 3:15 mark with a serene instrumental which evokes images of a stream running through a forest.

Your Smile is the song that was known as Real Love when she performed it in Paris in 2007. Now retitled, it's another catchy pop-rock tune, though it does seem to lack the "oomp" Real Love had. But it's a great end to the album and a lovely dose of nolstalgia for everyone who attended the Paris concert.

Olivia's brother Jeffrey also joins her again on Trinka Trinka to compose half of the album along side her. True to form the songs he contributes to are the best of the album (Trinka Trinka, Collecting Sparkles & Miss You).

Trinka Trinka is an amazing release from Olivia, even if Because stops it from being perfect. Olivia shows her time away from the music scene was not wasted, coming back with some great mystical sounding songs. Hopefully she won't wait too long for her next release - Trinka Trinka leaves you craving more Olivia.
