WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

Favourite Songs From My Top 5 Albums Of The Year So Far....

Posted 8 months ago

Been wanting to type another post for a while. I am getting so lazy lately as you can see from the time between my posts (I used to post daily, assuming I had Internet access) now it's much less frequent. Also I am totally lazy when it comes to browsing other Mogger's posts. I'll have a look at a couple of other Mogs now and then but never go for a "proper" browse. Some days I don't visit Mog at all because "I can't be bothered". Well, now I have a few posts in my head, though whether I get round to typing them is another thing altogether, but I'm going to try and get my arse into gear by posting something today! (Starting to think if I should make a list of my future posts, or is that too anal lol?) Plus I want to make my posts a bit more interesting. I do have moments when I start typing and I have loads to say but also have a lot of others where my posts are a tad half arsed lol.

I was thinking about my 2008 Album Ranking today in work and tried to assemble my Top 5 in my head and it got my thinking about my favourite song from each album, whether it's my favourite or a current favourite. So I'm going to post the videos and by the end of it will have a nice new post on my Mog (bonus!!) and I will be back tomorrow to type another post damnit, as well as actually posting some more comments on other Mogs! (Should try and get around to updating my Ranking). Here goes:

Patrick Wolf - Wind In The Wires, from Wind In The Wires (2005)

Definately my favourite of the album. Slightly depressing perhaps, but in a gorgeous, soothing kind of way. In fact, I think this song may have overtaken Bluebells as my favourite tune. The only thing I would change about it is the video - I imagined something featuring a lot of scenery and wet weather.

Hikaru Utada - Prisoner of Love, from Heart Station (2008)

More of a current favourite this time. I am unsure what my favourite song from Heart Station is (wiill Niji-iro Basu stay my favourite?). There was no Sakura Drops or Passion on this album, though to be fair she is going to a hard time topping those two and I'm impressed she could come up something which would make me feel the same way I did when I heard Sakura Drops. Prisoner Of Love seems to be a bit of a fan favourite and it's more "old-skool" Hikaru. Whilst I don't love it as much as the other songs on this list, I do have an "appreciation" for it now, which is why it's up there. Again issues with the video - then again all the PVs for Heart Station have been pretty bland and uninspiring bar Boku Wa Kuma. Not to put anyone off watching it, but it's one of those "in-the-studio-performing-and-writing-the-song" kinda of videos and she already had another studio performance video for the album!

Anyway, there's nothing particularly life changing about the song (just a r&b/pop mid-tempo ballad), I just find it quite nice currently. And in comparison to her last few videos/PVs this video is kind of watchable sometimes.

Patrick Wolf - Bloodbeat, from Lycanthropy (2003)

Think I have now decided that this is my favourite of Lycanthropy - though there are a few contenders. Love the eerie sounds and vocals. Unfortunately there is no video - though there really should be - so here's one someone has made from Youtube.

Olivia - Collecting Sparkles, from Trinka Trinka (2008)

My favourite from Trinka Trinka. Love this song! It's quite ethereal/electro sounding. Again there is no PV but it almost doesn't matter as some has posted the audio on Youtube, along with a very pretty picture which I find quite easy to stare at for the duration of the song.

L'Arc en Ciel - Sayounara, from Best of c/w

This album is quite a recent purchase, so I have had a few favourites so far and this is my current one. A nice happy sounding song! It caught my attention with the string sections at the chorus, which to me, gives the song a Christmas-y feel. Again no PV as it is a b-side, but luckily there is a fanmade video on Youtube, made from clips of videos from around the time the song was released, so it is looking quite dated!

It's scary how fast the year as gone! (I will get my Top 10 list done in time this year!) Though the closer to 2009 we are, the closer the release of Patrick's new album eh, Anna?

    No probs Anna Log!
