WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

I'm Feeling Trinka Trinka

Posted about 1 year ago

I was chuffed when I came home from work today to see a package...for me? But Olivia's new album isn't released until Wednesday, so shouldn't arrive until Saturday? Yep, I do love it when CDJapan ship orders early. It's usually only a day early, but I had one CD before it was released too.

Anyways, I haven't listened to it yet - am going to type this post before I do. The cover isn't as good as some of her previous ones, but on close inspection the rest of the CD looks good (plus it has that "new CD" smell!).

I am rather liking the back of the CD box, OK there's not much on it. Most of the photo is quite dark but there's a bit of light at the top left corner where you can see some tree branches. Gives it a kinda magical feel! The CD & DVD also have some cool doodles on them, which I assume Olivia drew herself and the pictures in side the CD box are images of kaleidoscopes. The CD booklet is quite plain but it has a picture of her barefoot, short 'do, floor length floaty dress holding a bunch of flowers, again giving a mystical feel. The problem with the cover is that it combines her face with tree branches and kaleidoscope effects and ends up looking rather cheap and messy. Plus it has a horrible border around it! (CD only cover is nicer!)

On further inspection of the booklet, it's good to see her brother Jeffrey is involved. I love the songs he does with her and would love to see him come out with an album. (Her sister Caroline has released a CD in the US, which I have yet to check out!). The album, or should I say mini-album as it only has 6 tracks, is called Trinka Trinka, which is a word Olivia made to mean excited, laugh, giggle and fun! Looking forward to listening to it as she was originally supposed to have released a mini-album back in February but it was cancelled. It should be interesting to hear what it is like. Her first album Synchronicity, is hard to describe it was..."weird" in a good way of course! The Lost Lolli was quite a dark album, whilst the album before Trinka Trinka (excluding the Nana anime CD), The Cloudy Dreamer was a mix of pop-rock songs and Olivia's usual ethereal stuff!

The track listing is:

01 Trinka Trinka

02 Rain

03 Because

04 Collecting Sparkcles

05 Miss You

06 Your Smile

And the DVD has the video for Rain on it, but unfortunately no more goodies. I was happy to hear that Your Smile is apparently Real Love which she performed when I saw her in Paris last year!

Better get listening now!

Yes, just a wee trinket from Trinka would suffice for now...
