The greatness of Shuffle

Posted almost 3 years ago

Had one of those moments a few weeks ago where, despite choosing which songs to put on my PSP, I started to wonder what I was listening to. "What is this song I have on here? And why the heck don't I listen to it more often? It's so gorgeous and haunting sounding".

The song was Olivia's Close Your Eyes - a b side from her Wish single. I had been downloading a few of her b sides as she has a lot, and I couldn't justify spending the money on the single just to rip a song or two and then to leave the CD gathering dust.

I sometimes have a tendancy to download a few songs but then I never listen to them once through properly. I tend to skip through them, hearing bits and pieces, so I can then check out all the songs I've downloaded. (Don't know why I do this. It's not if I don't have the time to give them a proper listen). So I then stuck it on my PSP knowing it would come round on the shuffle (I love the shuffle/random option. How did we ever live without it?) when I was more likely to give it a "proper" listen. It's kind of like I discovered a song I never knew I had!

I'm not really sure what to class the song as. You know I'm no good with genres. But's dreamy and dark sounding, with Olivia singing in English and Japanese.

I generally avoid shuffle, except for when I use it for games :)

I guess I'm missing these benefits of it!

I have to listen to an album for quite a while before I decide to shuffle it about.  Then sometimes I decide to mix it up a bit or just leave the album to play it normally.

Music is definately good for playing games - when are any PS3 games going to support playing your own music?  I want it for Tomb Raider?  Especially when you're stuck and in need of some motivational tunes!
