WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Another slightly guilty pleasure

Posted over 2 years ago
I say slightly because I only like it not love it but here goes.....Shayne Ward - No U Hang Up. The spelling in the title is bad enough alone and whenever I think of it, I just get that conversation from Friends in my head (No you hang up! No, you! You! You!) But it's gone from being a rather bland song to be quite catchy. (It's been stuck in my head anyway!)For those of you not living in the UK, Shayne Ward won the second series of The X Factor, and I was surprised to see that this single got to No 2 this week. I was expecting him to flop since there hasn't been much hype surrounding the single and I haven't heard it getting much airplay (at least not on Radio 1). Apparently he had to shoot the video for this song after Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh saw the other song he'd done for this single - If That's OK With You - and thought it was rubbish so had him do another video. I'm surprised if they were happy with No U Hang Up though, as it's quite similar to If That's OK With You, though catchier. It's a mellow R&B track and here's the vid:Since he only got to No 2 and not Number 1, it means we get the first pop song at No 1 for....quite some time...can't quite remember any No 1s pre-Umbrella lol. (Since Rihanna we've had Kanye West, Timbaland & Sean Kingston all at Number 1) Though actually we have had Robyn/Kleerup at No 1 recently, but still seems like a while since a pop tune has hit No 1 and it went to the Sugababes. It did surprise me as it's a bit poppy for them, and at first I wasn't too sure, but it's grown on me. A fun tune! But most importantly what went straight at No 27 on downloads alone? That's right....it's The Ladies' Bras by Jonny Trunk & Wisbey, which is one of or the shortest song to enter the charts, clocking in at half a minute. Here's a vid someone made for the tune...you gotta love the way he sings it:Everbody! "The ladies' bras, the ladies' bras, the ladies' knickers and the ladies' bras"

  1. darmuzz says So many videos seem to be sponsored by cell phone companies; I'm surprised to see a song in which the lyrics actually refer to using the phone! The bra song sounds like a joke ad, maybe something from an old comedy album. The #1 song in Canada right now is Hey There Delilah by Plain White Ts...a song that was originally released 2 years ago!

  2. milkshake says Didn't know it was that old! It's still doing quite well over here too. Think it's still in the Top 10.
