This has remained my favorite album since I bought it originally in 1976 . It is the closest album I have to what I consider perfection (spoilt slightly by free money). It is the only album I have bought on 3 occasions - twice on vinyl and once on CD. It starts by making the song 'Gloria' hers - any other version pales into insignificance by comparsion. I had been putting off listening to this album - because of the Bob Marley connection and the temptation for record companies to clone the sound (which I love - but do not think it can be surpassed). What a mistake - yes he does reference Bob in some tracks - my stand out track - move! - mixes in Exodus with a modern twist - but the majority of this stuff is very much his own. Great debut album - has the feeling of a band still learning their trade and not scared to take chances. It mostly works and is proving to be one of my albums of the year. Has a feel of Blondie, early Talking Heads, B52s a sort New York type of feel from the 70s and 80s but brought bang up to date. Definately worth a listen.
