Inner City Pressure

Posted about 5 years ago
Today was the third day in a row that was incredibly hot and humid... the part of my brain that I haven't yet euthanized with alcohol and cigarettes is slowly melting away.... earlier in the evening we had a serious thunderstorm in Berlin and the fire brigade are still out there pumping out cellars and tunnels... should have cleaned up the sky but it's humid again already... summer in the city! Makes me think of another hot summer maybe 10 years ago when this tune was sweeping across Europe...The only good thing about the humidity is that my glass of ice cold Martini looked pretty good pretty fast because of all the condensing water on the outside...

  1. CrashPryor says ...man, that's a tight cut, Mick...it was like that ALL THE TIME during the summer back in the South...the humidity makes you wanna choke people...make you wanna run for the boonies, don't it?

  2. Mike the Knife says Inner city pressure make me wanna holler. Which is why I live in the cool grey city of love, San Fran. But I'll be in the SoCal cauldron shorty, and I fear I will be dealing with the Big Heat. Thanks for the reminder, micki. (grumble, grumble)

  3. mickimicki says Sorry Mike... the heat came kinda early this week... it's global warming time it seems... brace yourself! Chris, I wanna be under a shady tree with no people or buildings in sight except my castle and my butler with a tray.

  4. Rawkkiddoh says those days are fast approaching in Minnesota, and when they hit its trouble. Minnesota tends to get humid hots, and humid colds. They are the worse, the heat you cant escape and the cold bites through what ever you have on

  6. Hermes says That's a great track. Don't listen to it that much any more. But the album has been my number one for a season. Same heat a few hundert kilometres in the south. According to a newer climatic extrapolation, we're getting the climate of Rome in a few thirty years, and I don't know if this is good or bad, though Rome is a fantastic town.

  7. mktackabery says Great cut Micki. Yeah, we are starting to feel it here in North Kakalacky. There have been two weird incidents this week. A few days ago, a guy who had been threatening suicide robbed a liquor store, shot and wounded the clerk, led the cops on a merry chase on I-40, wrecked about 10 cars, and got taken down in a hail of bullets. Then yesterday there was a nasty murder in a trailer park off U.S. 1 here - blood, guts, gore, straight out of America's Most Wanted. And the temps have only been in the high 80s. Weatherman says if we have two more weeks of no rain, we are officially in a drought. Batten down the hatches.

  8. mickimicki says @ Rawk: Cold or heat... I'm not sure I agree that heat is better... this is Europe, we don't really have AC's round here except in shopping malls and the like... so escaping the heat is often pretty hard... the "soccer mom" thing on bicycles etc... anyway, git your iced drinks ready... but don't forget: AC's are fuelling global warning ;-) @ Lady: yeah... today wasn't as hot, but uncomfortable, and sure enough there was a thunderstorm an hour ago. Cool white is a VERY good suggestion... I kinda like Pastis, too, and the ice water is good for "hydration"... but I sometimes feel the stuff is slightly hallucinogenic!!! Am I imagining something? (Does this make sense? Wondering whether I'm... imagining hallucinations...???) @ Michelle: Damn! Not that I "understand" murder and madness... but somehow these weird ups and downs in temperature have a tendency to push people to their limits... I guess it's normal that summer is hot... it's only May, though... maybe it's the combination of heat and total, obvious, all-around world-wide madness and low levels of any hope (to put it mildly) that's so annoying... you turn on the TV and you hear about craziness, and more people crack under pressure and decide they don't feel like holding on to "humanity", which is more crazies on TV, which...... OK I might be exaggarating. A little bit. It's all better during the weekend when there's beach bars even in the centre of the city... 2 days of cease-fire ;-)

  9. mickimicki says ... Michelle, I just read about a woman who killed her pregnant sister-in-law with a knife after she'd found out her husband had had an affair with her (and fathered the unborn child)... @ Hermes: Yeah Rome is nice, but do you really like its smell in the summer? Back alleys behind restaurants...? I think Germans can't live with that climate... without 3 hour lunch hours, we'd work ourselves to death! And we'll NEVER have 3 hours of lunch break, will we ;-)
