Im not leaving now, honey not a chance...

I just read "this post":http://mog.com/poebegone/blog_post/38645 which threw me back onto "this piece of the Eighties":http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqhdSRaU3pw which I thought I'd rather forget again, and quick, but then somehow the melody reminded me of another wicked 80s classic. I once spent several winter afternoons and evenings in the early 90s jumping around an unheated garage in a freaking leotard to the song (which is another story altogether as a certain Mogger would say), but hey, the tune still sounds all fresh to me now... so join me and jump around your desk to it. Here it comes!

  1. 1234chainsaw says After bopping subsides, go and check out Charlotte Hatherley's song called "Kim Wilde".

  2. CrashPryor says ...used to check that cut on HBO's early days (they aired videos like this and Adam Ant in between movies back before MTV came to fruition)...nice...

  3. Rawkkiddoh says Great song, cant say I danced around in a leotard to it though. Maybe I might give it a shot.

  7. Mike the Knife says Although I understand the lure of simple pop, I prefer that shiny, clockwork Flock of Seagulls drivel, especially "Wishing." Kim Wilde was the Kylie of her day, minus the career longevity - and the serious hotness. But that's just my particular view, and I should remind you that the opinions expressed here at MOG do not necessarily reflect reality.

  8. jimmybearpearson says I remember this tune, too. Very catchy, very interesting, and actually kind of fun. It was relived in the Jimmy Neutron movie - the kids were boppin' like crazy when it was playing in the movie...

  9. poebegone says my contribution would have to be that i spent many a juvenile evening painting my eyelids and lips a uniform shade of bluish, which was especially tricky as eyeshadow would not cling to lips yet lipstick was too, well, sticky on the eyes; and i was not even a huge fan of Gary Numan.

  10. mickimicki says @ poe: this rings a bell with me... the 80s were a good time for juvenile make-up experimentation... I think I had a proper blue lipstick and nail polish to match. Also an extremely unhealthily-hued purple one which made me look like I just drowned... @ Bella Vendetta: My mother-heart immediately fell for lil' Ricki. I like the Wilde family! and.. @Mike: Hey, If _I_ was a guy, I'd certainly prefer Kim over Kylie. But this view does _obviously_ not reflect reality in any way...

  12. hawaiianpunch says It's funny to see videos from back then. Right when videos were becoming popular everyone was still shooting them like some concert with no audience. The other thing I notice is that fashion hasn't changed much. Maybe several years ago I might've thought this looked dated, but now with every band going back to the 80's for their look it's kind of same old, same old. Oh and another thing, Kim Wilde was HOT!
