What I got myself for Christmas

Posted about 5 years ago
Years ago, a friend made me a tape that included some songs from this album, which had been re-released around 2000. I'd been checking iTunes for it several times, and this time it was there. No idea for how long it had been waiting... *%{color:red}Thank you Santa! That's a beautiful album.%*(If you need a last minute gift for a music lover, I say go for it.)

  1. fistula spume says I love The Pretty Things! I've got about 12 tracks from various albums off comps. Great to hear they're on iTunes. If they're on the US iTunes I smell early x-mas present for myself as well.

  4. markheyert says This is one of my top ten rock albums of all time, as well as, a desert island disc... One might think that the work Chris Thomas did on Grand Hotel might have been the apex of the PT sound but this album's Beethovenesque tone and shear production complexity makes it for me.

  5. ivylander says Hate to be a pedant (and especially on the cusp of a holiday), but Chris Thomas produced Grand Hotel for Procol Harum. Still, your overall point is well-taken: Parachute is a monster.
