Some Time in New York City

    Sunday Bloody Sunday
Hahahahhhh... GOTCHA!(Check out the ending of John-n-Yoko's tune. Someone listened to some ska there in NYC it seems.)(Please, my friends: No Yoko-bashing on my post! Bono, on the other hand, is free game in my i-lair :D)And for the record, here's a classic that's hardly getting any airplay these days. (Or did it ever?)

  1. Pop Savant says It also seems that he got some inspiration from hanging out with Bowie.

  3. mickimicki says Capt, I just _knew_ there would be Yoko-bashing. What's so awful??? Ok, her voice hurts a bit, but I've got a little child so I'm really good at tuning out screeching sounds :P Popsavant, yeah, now that you said it I'm hearing it too.

  5. soulrocket says i just was listening to the apple records singles 6cd boxset yesterday night and i thought to myself (about john & yoko)... the music is interesting and very advanced for its time but it didnt aged well and "interesting or intriguing" doesnt seem to be enough... we could add some myth-mania that could make me stick to them but i am the wrong person to appreciate that. i havent given up on them yet. oh yeah, i almost forgot... i have recorded carlos paredes for my mom & she loved it. she really enjoyed it while preaching me about the advantages and disadvantages of a spain-portugal re-union on the map... dude, the old people... heh.

  6. mickimicki says Man, about the Carlos Paredes, I've tried to upload the whole album to the M, but it seems the tags of my mp3's are all fucked up and in M. all 20 songs except one show with the same name and number... I can't seem to correct it inside iTunes. You got any idea how to correct the mp3 tags? John & Yoko... well, I agree with you. Well meant, but mostly not really lasting contributions, which is sadder because so much of J.L's stuff is classic-classic. Still couldn't resist the name of the tune... also I have wanted to post ??Woman Is The Nigger Of The World?? for EVER, I'd been planning on getting into a fight with Crash over it ;)... bad me! If I had a choice to spend an evening with Bono or Yoko though, I'd always go for the lady... her singing isn't so much worse than his, either, imho :P

  7. ZenPop says What's not to like about Lennon?... Here's a guy who (like Yoko) did what he wanted to do... did his own music... I may or may not like certain songs, but I'll always have maximum respect for the guy... It's too easy to just compromise all the time... he didn't. Cheers!

  8. leftoverking says wow, i am definitely hearing bowie in this now too.

  9. mickimicki says ZenPop, without a doubt. I don't dislike / disrespect him the least, I just don't like some of his songs, and Yoko was doing _art_ anyway, so I guess she wouldn't mind if I thought her singing was a bit itchy to my eardrum... As for ??Woman is...??, well, that was a song that not many would dare to make, not then, not today, leave alone a guy. Leftoverking, yeah me too, PopSavant nailed that.

  12. mickimicki says Thanks :) I'm a Mac cripple, but I found something for mac on download.com, too. (It says iTunes should be able to edit tags, too, so somehow I should get it done within a few days. His best-of album is totally worth some fiddling.)
