Surprise family ROCKOUT
-
Artist:
So on a family vacation, my dad surprised me and my 4 siblings with tickets to a concert. Now most of the time, this is a recipe for disaster. Dads are supposed to be lame. They are why we listen to rebellious rock music, right?
So Dad got us ZZ Top concert tickets, and came with us. Now my sisters are a little hipper than my brother and me, so they didnt express the same initial excitement to see the legendary group perform live in Aspen in a venue with a max capacity of 450.
Let me tell you - the show was amazing. These guys still have it. They have such a fantastic sound and feel. And the intimite venue made me want to pull up a barstool, ask for the whole bottle of bourbon, and burden the barkeep with all of my woes, to the bluesy, rockin' soundtrack the boys were laying down.
My siblings and I opted to rock out in the first row instead. This is impressive considering these guys are so ancient that the tips of their beards are probably older than my youngest sister. They blew us all away, and I just wanted to call 'em out and ask you to explore their catalog a little bit (or all over again) and check out some of the premier kings of southern rock. Thanks Dad!

*A side note - my siblings and I followed this show up with front row attendance at My Morning Jacket's stunning New Years Eve Madison Square Garden show, which is perhaps too epic to blog about. Who says Dad's can't be hip? My kids have their wide music appreciation due to witnessing mine. Glad your Dad rocks too.
