Happy new year Mogger's
Happy New Year everybody! I just got back from Detroit where we did our usual New Years noodling, this time at the brand new MGM Grand there. New Years is usually problematic because it is such a mixed bag of people that go out, sometimes for the only time of the year. I enjoy the challenge of an audience who has never heard of us and doesn't give a rip about scene's. They either like or they don't. I am happy to say that I think we go over really well with a culturally diverse audience, who both instinctively recognize musicianship and want to have a good time when they go out. I have a whole bunch of things to say about why I love dance music as an egalitarian form, but I wont bore you today. Anyhow, much to my surprise, I have enjoyed posting here on MOG so far. I have been slapped down before when I have tried to elaborate on what it is for me that makes me want to contribute to the warp and weave of the pop music universe. Often I have been made to feel like I am pretentious and over analyze, but the truth is that this is actually how I think of it. Other people don't want to analyze too much and that is cool with me, but I guess the unexamined life is not worth pursuing as far as I am concerned. Different strokes for different folks. My art is more architectural than expressional, so I gotta measure and survey and draw up design's. I have come to understand that I am weird in that way or rather "unamerican"- but tough titty, like it or lump it, that is how I am built. Anyway, when I get over my jet lag maybe I can gussy up this page with some more music. Bye for now, MC Large Drink
