MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

Artist:

Such a shame he died so young - absolutely talented. Here's a video mashup of my favorite Marvin Gaye clips off youtube...because I'm in a Motown throwback mood and because the Ain't No Mountain High Enough version with Tammi Terrell is a thousand times better than Diana Ross's. Yep.

I didn't even there was a version with Diana Ross. Marvin & Tammi were such a musical match that everyone tried to emulate them to no avail in my opinion. The only other pair that could rival them was Otis Redding & Carla Thomas over at Stax.

Hey, there's an exceptional live version of "What's Goin' On?" hidden behind Tammi. During a previous discussion here (and also here) on MOG, I have boldly stated that "Here, My Dear" was superior to "What's Goin' On." Which one do you prefer?

If I may, I'd like to offer you my favourite Marvin & Tammi duet (which is not their classic call and response staple). Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell - California Soul

Ooh thanks for the California Soul clip - I've actually never heard that one. They compliment eachother so well, I should probably do a mashup of just Marvin & Tammi songs. Your mention of Stax just reminded me of the Staples too, haven't listened to them in forever. Onward and thanks...
