Good music vs. music I like

I was thinking about making a list of my favorite cds from 2006 but I'm having a lot of difficulty because there are a lot of cds I've heard that I really hate, but I can tell they're excellent... I just hate the listening experience. Best example is the new Saves the Day album, which to me is like a horror film with its graphic lyrics and in my face 'tude. If I liked being sonically raped I'd listen to it all the time, but... I don't.
