Simply The Perfect Storm...

This album is the first album in a long time that just gets me amped (This and any Little Brother, but anyway). It has heavy rotation in my whip and it is just right. A balanced album. Exile's beats are crazeeee and the lyrics - Blu is really lacing the tracks lovely with some insightful, clever, and witty lyrics. This cat is clearly a student of the craft and a true hip hop fan. Exile and BL the new Pete Rock and CL...? Yeah... pretty damn close! This album is an instant classic. All praises. I highly recommend it. All I have to say to these cats is - Thank You.

  1. Scribes4life says I hear you on that Below the Heavens. A lot people feel like this has been a soft year for hip hop, but I'm straight. LB, B&E, Kweli, P. Monch, Com Sense, Jay, Black Milk, Blue Scholars, Consequence, Jazzy Jeff, Mr. West, Dr. West, Guru, Royce 5'9"... plus, we still got Ghost, Wu, NaS, Lupe & Saigon (maybe) on the way, I'm GOOD.

  3. Stabes710 says These guys couldn't shine Pete Rock & CL Smooth's shoes but they do remind me of Little Brother. Soft year for hip hop? I know that's what a lot cats have been saying but I concur with Scribes that there's actually been a LOT of really good stuff: agree on Monch, Cons, Com, Kanye, Kweli and Jay. Also: UGK, Playaz Circle, Sa-Ra and Prodigy and if you're into these sounds: Rich Boy, Hurricane Chris (yes, believe it - even XXL mag gave it a 4-star 'XL' rating), Joell Ortiz, Devin the Dude and Brother Ali.
