WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

New Sunset Rubdown...

Posted over 2 years ago
Is easily the best album I've heard all year...easily. It's packed full of long, mesmerizing, chill enducing, and beautiful Spencer Krug creations. Maybe I'll get tired of it after obsessing about it, but god damn is this album epic! Sorry Feist, sorry LCD Soundsystem, you've got some stiff competition!
Sunset Rubdown-Random Spirit Lover: full album review sometime before next friday, promise. Maybe if I'm feeling up to it another on the new (so far, quite underwhelming) Stars album. For now, here's a new and fucking amazing Sunset Rubdown track while it lasts, it's the opening track and it's called "The Mending of The Gown".

  3. annnna says Already? I think it was just a little over a year ago I started listening to Shut Up I Am Dreaming, and I'm still loving that cd. It's too bad about Stars...

  4. dachmo says Too much music. ...head spinning. Must ad to list. I promise, just one more album ...I'll quit ...I swear! I just need one more album, man.

  5. Cflatmajor says That is definitely on my to-buy list now. General questions though, are they big enough in the States to have released in Australia, or should I just order it? *sigh* sometimes I hate my location.

  6. dachmo says Cflat: Don't hate. I live in Manhattan and every day I think "Wouldn't it be great to live in ___________!" I'm in F'n New York City and I say that shit. It's just part of human nature to think that things are better somewhere else. What is it like 12 noon where you are right now?

  7. Marigold says not sure I am getting this track. Its not bad, just not sure why it is so good. Is it just me or does it sound like the guy from CYHASY? ..not trying to be a hater. I hear you on the new Stars cd...man, what a dissapointment. It is hard to listen to the entire thing without cringing at some points. One of the most dissapointing cds of the year for me. I loved their last two cds so much. Oh well. Feist, Spoon, Broken Social Scene are all in contention for best record for me this year.

  9. Cflatmajor says dachmo: i think 6:30AM NY is about ... 3:30PM here, using my trusty phone. Well whatever time it comes up as a comment it's 6:50PM here now. I have my sentimental attachments to Ballarat [my place] I suppose.. but it's so cooold here right now as well! i can't wait til the end of August; grab my summer clothes out again! even though Ballarat spring is notoriously changeable. Legendary New York, definitely like to visit there someday!

  11. max says and that's not mentioning Winged/Wicked Things! p.s. let's get started on an overgrown bunnies/happy adams/pqo show at blakes (maybe one more?) It'll be fucking raw!

  12. The Happy Adams says hell yes! how well would you say adam knows the blake's crew? If he knows them well I would say he should talk to them, but if he doesn't want to, I'll talk to them. also, do you have any dates in particular that the kalx acoustictown could happen?

  13. max says i'm pretty sure adam's down with talking to them--i'll ask him though i know he's leaving for camp tomorrow morning, so we'll wait for him to get back-shit'll slap! As per an acoustic session i think i'm pimping out a show this friday from 12-3pm, pretty well listened to show (Gatsby's i believe) so if you wanted to stop by towards the 2-ish side of that. I'm no good with the whole interview thing, plus you guys don't have any released music, so i think if you have a track or two that sounds good for radio and is edited (or if it's only one or two fucks or shits) and can play one or two on the guitar and sing into a janky little set-up (if the full band comes in sometime you can use the actual air studio for real bands) then i think we're set and we can shoot the breeze about berkeley high bands, music in general, and, i don't know fred's chicken sandwiches! if this friday isn't good for you i'll have a fw more regular hours shows before school starts, so anyone would be totaly baller!

  14. The Happy Adams says Sweet that all sounds awesome! Mickey's out of town, so I'll just bring trax and a guitar at 2, but I'm sure the band would love to play live another time if you'd be chill with it/not having us wear out our air welcome. where exactly is the studio?

  15. max says alright, baller! Of course, once you put out ur self release i'd love to have the whole band in! you should come earlier just in case, i'd say around 1:30, kalx is in brrows hall, basically what you have to do is go to the bancroft/ telegraph intersection and then walk up bancroft (towards the greek theatre direction, not towards b high) and right accross from the bancroft clothing store on the left side of the street is a little lane which has a bunch of cop cars parked along it called barrows lane, walk to the near end of that until you get to an ugly grey, tall building with lots of scafolding and then call me, i'll let you in and take you down to the dungeon that is kalx! haha this'll be fun, bring a bunch of tracks and we can choose which ones to play there, i'll probably play like 2 or 3. I'll pm you my cll number in case you don't already have it! peace G

  20. max says haha, alright, well, go tell everyone to listen now, we'll be hip hopin' it on kalx berkeley 90.7 fm baby! I've never been more excited to do a show, so much less music i have to pull now!
