It's been, again, an admittedly long time since I've called on the help of my fellow moggers, but the time has come.

My band was accepted to South By South West about a month ago and after the long process of trying to convince both my teachers and parents that playing there was a more worthwhile experience than the 5 days of school Id be missing I finally got the OK.

Obviously I'm excited beyond belief, but now comes the part I hadn't prepared for, where do I go? What's the deal with sxsw? I'm coming thoroughly unprepared, I'll have a band wristband (so I think that gets me in most everywhere, probably still not 21+ stuff) but I don't know where to go and who to see. What's the deal with all the special parties that I've heard often had better artists than the actual sxsw bands? I think you know the rest of where I'm going with this.

So if you've been to sxsw and have any insight to share, or where i can find a list of all the shows (i scoured the sxsw website, but couldn't find one) anything to help me navigate the magnitude of greatness that will be Austin would be much appreciated.

Thanks all, hopefully I'll catch some of you there!

ps. If you're around and want to catch one of our (Please Quiet Ourselves) shows we're playing an unofficial (not part of sxsw) day party on the 14th @ Lovejoy's w/ Jukebox the Ghost, Magic Magic, and Pash. We'll also be playing the Fanatic Showcase (part of sxsw) which has yet to be dated.

First off congrats on landing a gig. I am going and def. will swing by and check it out. secondly, the "schediles" haven't been announced yet. They have a list at this URL of the artists that are gonna be there. i think if you like an artist you can look it up on their web site, if not, then i think an official showcase schedule comes out closer to the event.

It's christmas eve, right? As one more Hannuka inclined I should be out eating Chinese right now at King Yen, in fact I may still, but even though my presence here at MOG has dwindled in the last 6 months I couldn't leave my precious MOG year-end-best-of listless. That just wouldn't be right!

So, taking cue from fellow MOG buddy (it's both a multiple of 5 and 6!) and a kid named Jasper here's my

BEST SINGLES OF 2007
...
Albums will come soon, i promise

1. UGK -International Player's Anthems

R.I.P. Pimp C. This song continues to amaze me, at times i doubted it, but single of the year for sure!

2. Justice- D.A.N.C.E.

it's cliched, i don't care, i still love it

3. Lil' Wayne

I know this isn't fair, but if I haven't said it before Lil' Wayne has forever changed the rap game for me. Honestly it's hard for me to listen to anything rap related these days becase nothing is as creative and witty and genious as Lil' Wayne. Lil' Wayne IS the best rapper alive.

4. T-Pain- Buy U A Drank

I'm gonna have a lot of explaining to do this year. If anything this year was the year of coming to grips with the fact that i actually love mainstream music. Sure it may be cheap and in this case, auto tuned, but it's catchy and still deserves it's place. Buy U A Drank...as kanye said, "fuck it, i'll buy the bar if you're worth it"

5. Rhianna-Umberella

It's undeniable that the Hova verse in the begining is completely unecesary (as much as i love jay and his new album), but the song still kills.

6. M.I.A. - Boyz

while I actually haven't actually found myself to be a big fan of of M.I.A.'s new album this song is undeniably amazing. Sure Paper Planes had it's moments, but there's so much gunshot snare I can take. Boyz reigns supreme

7. LCD Soundsystem-All My Friends

Pitchfork is right, what can I say

8. R. Kelly- I'm A Flirt (remix)/Real Talk

I owe all my love of R. Kelly to a one, Spencer Owen, he helped me find out everything i said in my #4 pick up there. R. Kelly's album is still playing on repeat in my car, i get some funny looks every once in a while, but it's worth it, especially when Real Talk is being slapped on blap or as high as I can get the speakers to go.

9. Devin the Dude ft. Snoop Dogg, Andre 3000 – What a Job

amazing

10. Panda Bear- Bros

Animal Collective and Panda Bear have killed it this year. Two of the absolute best albums and if this list went to 100 i think almost every track from both would be on here. Can't wait for the tours and new material.

11. Animal Collective-Fireworks/Peacebone
12. Jens Lekman–Friday Night at the Drive-in Bingo/A Postcard To Nina
13. Kevin Drew- Gang Bang Suicide
14. LCD Soundsystem-New York, I love You But You're Bringing Me Down
15. Los Campesinos-You Throw Parties, We Thrown Knives/You! Me! Dancing!
16. The Klaxons-Golden Skans/Gravity's Rainbow
17. The Shins – Sleeping Lessons
18. The Cataracs-Rich Girl
19. Feist- 1 2 3 4
20. The Pack – In My Car
21. Yelle- Les Femmes
22. Soulja Boy-Crank Dat
23. Arctic Monkeys – Fluorescent Adolescent
24. Keak da Sneak – In Front of Yo Momma
25. Beirut-Elephant Gun
26. Uffie-Pop The Glock
27. Sean Kingston-Beautiful Girls
28. Timbaland-Apologize (remix)
29. DJ Khaled- We Takin' Over
30. The Mae Shi-Run To Your Grave

It's been a bit of musical ADD year for me. Not to mention that i've changed this list at least 10 times, I'm sure I'm still not happy with it, but Im just gonna leave it be and cringe next year. Merry Xmas everyone, and Happy Post-Hannuka. Best albums in the next week, sorry I was too lazy to put mp3's.

you know it's catchy, you know you've sung the chorus at least once evan, don't lie
had this year been last year, naturally i wouldn't have put it on (and rather probably made a bad pun about it) but this year has been the year of embracing mainstream pop...even though a lot of it still annoys the shit out of me...did i really put crank dat on the list? haha

Snoop's video looks like a tenth-generation copy of something recorded off TV in 1984 on purpose? He did a pretty decent self-parody on an episode of Monk, so I'm starting to wonder if he's more heady than I suspected.
