almost done
just got back from seattle this morning, where we spent a month recording at robert lang's. what a place! anyway, all that's left is a little bit of writing/rewriting, some vocals and extra stuff and mixing, but really it's almost done. lots of friends came by and played and sang. some hard rocking rock, some goodnight songs, some stuff in between. now listening to le mystere des voix bulgares, vol. 2. have i already posted that i saw them when a friend of mine convinced me years ago to go scalp tickets with him, to see them at avery fisher. seemed crazy to me, as i hadn't heard of them, but my friend (tom shad, was joining dumptruck when i met him, this was the late eighties, later played with blue man group, once saw him record a song into his answering machine because he'd just moved in and hadn't unpacked his tape recorder, blew my young mind) managed to convince me, and it was AmAzing, fifty women in a semi-circle, vibrato-less pure voices, heart-stopping harmonies.
