dispatch from a card table

    dylan hears a who
card table. on it: tuner, tapes, C batteries for tape recorder, this computer, my elbows. one week left here in the studio. we've been listening to a lot of mitch hedberg in the off-minutes. john goodmanson, who does a very accurate hedberg, is producing. there's a hugely high stone reverb chamber with an old slightly clunky upright piano in it that sounds amazing. best thing i've heard lately: dylan hears a who, which is dr. seuss stories sung and played like 65/66 dylan. a ma zing. but just went to dylanhearsawho.com and it says "at the request of dr seuss enterprises, L.P., this site has been retired." hmm... maybe the tracks can still be found somewhere else. it's actually so accurate that i get maybe 8/10ths of the same warm fuzzy feeling that i get from the real thing.

  1. greeninkstains says It pains me that I never shelled out the money to see Mitch Hedberg at Just For Laughs. Whenever the CBC airs reruns of of Galas, Mitch still makes me cry with laughter. I now have to search for that Dylan Hears a Who file. I've been craving some childhood nostalgia lately and some Susse would fit the bill.

  2. ledasgirl says Dylan Hears a Who is on my must-find list. I also love the (non-musical) Seussian "Green Eggs and Hamlet," a short film which I haven't been able to find in a few years.

  5. Liz Browne says I ordered in Mitch Hedberg on Netflix -wow- practically every time that someone at the counter asks if I want I receipt I say, "Do we really need to involve paper and ink?" It always gets a laugh. Cheers to you guys for that!
