still alive

sorry it took forever to let me log in here.
i've been doing busy in hectic life here, plus with work and stuff lately.
just started this electro trash/hardcore project with my buddy anthony (ex mean reds, issei sagawa)
we are in the middle of writing songs/recording.
i'll let you guys know when we have the link of our music soon.

otherwise, i went to the eternals (ex trench mouth) show the other day.
this band is creating insteresting genre of music.
sound like mixing with massive attack, the upsetters and fugazi into one.
if you haven't heard their stuff, check out and run to the record store.
and they know exactly how to play instruments!

i've been writing songs for my new solo ep as marauder also.

i will keep you posted about how i'm doing and my fav music stuff.
later!

i recorded this cover...

well, i recorded a cover of the lemonheads tune "Down About It" for their tribute album.
they are one of my favourite bands from late 80's, 90's.
and their new album was one of the best from the releases in last year.
i recorded all instruments except drums (machine) and mixed at my room.
so the sound quality is kinda poor, but hope you guys enjoy it.

my past works

here is a part of my past works again!
i like this song and my guitar part as well.
this band cymbals already broke up, they wanted me to play guitar like some spy movies soundtrack from the 60's like john barry's.
i played like this imagining if kevin sheilds from my bloody valentine ever played on the john barry, henry mancini or michelle legrand tunes. a lot of feed back noise, fazzy tone in jazzy feelings.
this stuff is one of the best in my past works.
fyi: this song was written after the war on iraq was happened actually.
so it's a little ironical and political, less offensive tho.

i've ever worked on it....

i wrote, arranged, produced and played guitars for this track.
actually this is a novelty song for weather news,
and this girl singer brownie is one of those weather girls.
the client wanted me to write the song like a sunny day.
i think it's totally a punky pop song like american pop idols sing.

this is the stuff i've worked on

here is a sample i've ever worked on as a guitar player.
it would be nice if you guys could know more about japanese music.
i haven't been into those japanese stuff tho, i've grown up in the 80's listening to the music from overseas mostly. so i don't know much about bands here much still.
i work with them for money sometimes....
but i didn't work with jun for making money, he is one of my great friends here.
tho he moved to hawaii in last year....
i love his songs and enjoyed to help him out for recording and touring.
i think he is very talented and an artistic person like elliot smith or jeff buckley.
they were gone to heaven sadly tho....r.i.p

basically jun's english lyric on it doesn't make sense, he can pronounce very well cuz he was born and raised in holland till 4yrs old, but he totally forgot how to speak already!
i'll post some more stuff i've ever worked on if you guys wanna hear.
enjoy it!

an inspiration

i've been doing busy with seeing/hanging with a few of my US friends in these days.
they are in bands like the album leaf, these arms are snakes, make believe, owen and isis.
some of them got a hold of me and looked after me a lot like sharing their places and showing me around when i was tripping around west coast in last year.
i was happy to see their real faces after ages, and they were awesome at the show no doubt, i got a strong inspiration for making music.
and respet them as friends of mine at the same time.
i think it's time to wing it to the states again.
hopefully with my band.....

happy new year!
my life is still goin' mellow as same as the last year.
i've djed at the NYE party, played some 80's HxC like gorilla biscuits' new direction in beginning of my set for the coming year haha
the party was a blast, i was almost passing away with a lot of tequila shots tho.
otherwise...in the new year, i've chilled at home and enjoyed holidays.
well, i've been listening to some 80's guitar poppy stuff much lately, actually they've been left on the record shelf for ages since i was sick of this kinda pop stuff.
so why i started listening to them again?
i dunno why, i think it might be like everyone misses the college class when they grow up....
and i talked to a guy in a band called the prayers about those 80's bands like orange juice or josef k the other day. it totally made me feel nostalgic.
plus, newer bands from england like the view, the horrors, the pipettes, little man tate or larrikin love reminded me of a lot of those 80's shit
i told brandon from the prayers to make a CD-R copy of my collection.
so i'm taking them into HD from the record player. it's kinda pain, but fun.
well, hope you guys are having a great time in the new year!

it feels like Big Star

it's so freezing today, so i was listening to the Big Star songs on my i-pod to keep my body warm on the way to work.
the winter sun even seemed to forget rising above giving a listen to Alex Chilton's heartwarming voice. so peaceful....

Mash Up to get fucked up

as i told in another entry i've been djing at my friend's bar in shibuya.
this is kinda 80's party. ppl there enjoy a lot of cheesy pop shit or the one hit wonder songs like alphaville, baltimora, trans x or falco much more than the bands such as the smiths, new order, the cure...
so i've made this fucked up mash up mega mix for this party before.
you might be able to enjoy this at least if you like strange music.
my friend told me like i'm twisted, i think it was a praise :)
my mash up mix

he's walking through walls

i believe he's lying on a KING size bed of american major/indie scene.
tho his musical history was like a long winding road.
when he was a teenager, formed a punk/powerpop band called The Bats.
they released a 7inch called "popgun" and a full album called "how pop can you get?" from connecticut's indie label gustav records around '82. they sound like cheap trick plays the ELO songs. amazing songwriting, it would blow ben folds' mind away.
and it's my all time favourite powerpop album with no doubt.
then he has worked at the studio for a while, then formed the short lived band The World's Fair. i think a few songs on his solo album had been written for this band. and his another short lived band The Grays were awesome and could be a bridge between newer bands around LA.
then as you guys know he could be a wing man for a bunch of great talented musicians like Aimee Mann, Fiona Apple, Jellyfish........etc and wrote a few great scores for movies as well.
i believe he would be like those great composers/arrangers/producers in the 70's like Jimmy Webb, Nick De Caro and Eumir Deodato!
R.E.S.P.E.C.T

life in tokyo meets music

life in tokyo is so fast as always, working, drinking, getting fucked up at the party, making some noise at the studio.....it's not bad, but it makes me feel complicated and feel rush about everything. why the ppl here are so rushing? and they drag me down....
wish i could live in the states and have a mellow life making music and touring around.
i play some 80's shit at my friend's bar in shibuya every thursday, my friend took some guys from The Mars Volta there and we all hung for a few hours.
we didn't talk about music at all, it was more like the normal conversation at the normal bar as seen everywhere.
their music always makes me awake like throwing me on the fire or pouring some cold water on my head.
actually they were like burrittos at the mexican restaurent in san diego or the mission dist SF. so casual but cool shit.
their manager sonny from GSL was an awesome guys as well....
when i see my friends from the other countries or meet the new ppl like the mars volta guys here in tokyo, they make me miss the great times in the states always.
(actually i've tripped around in west coast taking 3months from this march)
life in tokyo is hard to breathe to me right now.

thanks for reading this 5 years old kid-ish blog, my english still sucks....
