The BROW series continues this week with a studio out-take from the Wings London Town sessions. Despite the album title, much of this album was recorded in the Virgin Islands on Paul's yacht Fair Carol during May 1977 and Waterspout was most likely one of the tracks they worked on there. It was near this period when the line-up of Wings was reduced to just Denny Laine, Linda McCartney and Paul so it is not clear if drummer Joe English and guitarist Jimmy McCulloch participated in this recording that has never seen the light of day. The image here is of a postcard issued at the time to promote the LP.

I think London Town and, for that matter, Back to the Egg, are underrated records. Maybe it is because I was just a kid and played them both over and over again, but they still hold up pretty well today. Not like some the crap I used to listen too.
Speaking of The Beatles, have you ever heard Natalie Cole's live version of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds from her Natalie Live album? Came out around the same time and she does it as kind of slow burner and then just wails on it at the end. More evidence of the briliance of The Beatles.
Anyway, thanks for this.

I haven't heard Natalie's cover so I'll have to check that out. I would hope it to be better than William Shatner's version (ugh...choke...).

Anything is better than Capt Kirk's version. I'm surprised the record didn't warp as soon as it was made.
Here's something that's pretty cool. A buddy has a recording of Paul I think playing in someone's living room. Must be fairly widely distributed in certain circles if my friend has it. Does that ring a bell?

Not offhand but maybe I need a little more info to be sure...like, what song(s) did he do.
My Trusted MOGs
Yes! It's so cool to hear this!!!

I think LondonTown has some of the strongest Macca songs ever, so I too am puzzled by critical raspberries. This sounds great. I hope that Paul someday releases a box set of rarities and unreleased solo stuff.

In case anyone cares -- I dug up the Natalie Cole of LSD.

I too think London Town was greatly under rated. I'd not heard this before, so thanks again for sharing this gem.
