WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

The Beatles Rarity Of The Week

Posted about 1 month ago

Hello everyone....

I haven't really made a proper post in a while and I expect a lot of you might be thinking that my Beatles Rarity Of The Week posts are now a thing of the past. Well, I have some news that I'm hoping will be good for the most of you reading this. The BROW is very much alive and will be continuing on a regular basis. Since MOG has recently discontinued MP3 uploads, I realized I could continue and just upload on another free-service site, but I thought a better idea for the BROW would be for it to have it's own dedicated site and that has been what I have been working towards for a little while now.

There's more. I have decided to go with a new id on the new BROW site as "marknavl" is a little dated. The "avl" in that name comes from the town I lived in when I joined MOG in 2007 (Asheville, NC) and I no longer live there. My name on the new site is (laugh all you want) Happy Nat. Some of you may be saying "where the hell did a name like Happy Nat come from? Then again some of you may know. By that I mean some of you may know who the real Happy Nat was. I'm not refering to Nat King Cole but someone else that was a part of The Beatles legend in the 60's. If you are not sure who he is then maybe one day when you are reading some Beatles liner notes or watching a particular Beatles film, his name just might come up. I've always thought he was a cool guy and he's no longer with us so as a gesture of my admiration I will let him be my namesake.

Since my old BROW posts are no longer playable on MOG, my plan is to restore the sound files and place the old BROW posts on the new site. This will take some time to get them all but I'll try to work on getting a few of the repeats in each week.

I have no plans whatsoever, of quitting MOG. Actually I'm looking forward to the up-and-coming MOG ALL ACCESS and seeing what that is all about. I seem to have won a subscription as a matter of fact. I will be making now-BROW posts however and leave the BROWs to the new dedicated site. For some time yet, I will also be sure to make a MOG post linking to the new site each week whenever I post a new BROW. On the new site you can subscribe though, which will get you an email whenever there is a new post and that's what I'm actually hoping my BROW-reading MOG friends will do. Okay, enough preliminary discussion: here's the real deal:

This week's BROW is waiting for you at www.TheBeatlesRarity.com. The first 3 BROWS ever posted on MOG (back in the fall of in 2007) are also there if you want to review or check those out. More oldies will follow, along with a new one each week.

I'm hoping you guys can stick with me and let me know what you think of the new site. It's been great with you guys so far and I damn sure don't want it to stop now.

Beautifully designed site! And, I'm sure the content will be equally enticing as it always has been. I'll grab your RSS feed for my My Yahoo page!

Great RX! You can also subscribe if you like. I note Rummy just did that this morning (inrumford). Let me know if you run into any problems. I'm still looking for bugs and stuff. Thanks!

By subscribe, so you mean register? I don't see any other way to subscribe other than to pull the RSS link. If that's not it, could you let me know?

RX, I have placed a button to subscribe just under the "About this site" box in the left sidebar of the main page. With this you can have new content added to your Google homepage, Google Reader, My Yahoo page or whatever. Just pulling the RSS link may be doing the same thing for you though, but this would be another option. Your call.

I think they are one in the same. The feed link seems to display fine on My Yahoo, so I'll be able to see your latest updates. Thanks

Yep, the other way to do it is to hit the "register" link in the left sidebar (under the "Meta" heading, which is under the "Recent Comments" widget). This really won't get you anything that you don't have by just subscribing to the RSS feed though in the case of this site. It would just allow you to login to the site with your own username/password.
