The Beatles Rarity Of The Week (Spot the Oddity, Pt. 2)

Posted about 4 years ago

Last week's "Spot the Oddity" edition of BROW went great so I'm going to try it again. Thanks for the responses. This one is even easier than the last one so let's see how you do.

See if you can tell what is different about this version of All My Loving that was officially released at one time or another. As a bonus, see if you can tell me where this slightly different version of it was originally found and put your answer in a comment here. Of course, if your going to try this don't read the comments until you do (that is, if there is any, this time). Good luck to all or otherwise, you can just enjoy listening to the tune and forget about the little trivia game I've cooked up.

  1. Terry Staunton says I'm not 100 per cent sure about this one, Mark, but I seem to recall that the album version (Meet The Beatles in the US, With The Beatles in the UK) didn't have the hi-hat intro - although I've definitely heard it somewhere before. Might the recording you posted be from a British release four-track EP, or perhaps a radio session, such as Brian Matthew's Saturday Club?

  2. marknavl says Yeah it's hard to miss that intro. This is the version from The Beatles' Greatest LP on Odeon that was released in Germany in 1965. It may be on some other European releases but none that I know of other than the CD The World's Best which is out of print now but originally only available in Germany by mail order. Thanks for posting.

  3. dermahrk says Amazing. I missed it, but after I knew about it, it was so obvious.

  4. dermahrk says I'm interested in that stage photo. I've never seen them on that set, assume it's a lip-synch show since there are no guitar cords visible. Where is it from?

  5. marknavl says Well, Mark I have to tell you I have no idea where that stage is. I s'pose I could look through some of my photo books upstairs and maybe I would find it but right now I don't know. Sorry.

  6. SkyLantern says Hi Mark, I'm a new visitor to BROW. Firstly, thanks for sharing some of the rarities from your collection. I'm enjoying hearing them, many for the first time. And as for the source of the on-stage photo above, I believe it is one of the Beatles' earliest TV performances, a British show called Thank Your Lucky Stars. http://www.televisionheaven.co.uk/tyls.htm

  7. marknavl says Thanks Sky! You saved me the research. Glad you like the posts and have a good weekend.
