Punish The Monkey

A few months ago Mark Knopfler came out with his new Kill To Get Crimson CD. Mark has mellowed out a lot over the three decades since that first Dire Straits album, but his music is still very good. He's a great lyricist and very graceful guitar player. Punish The Monkey is the most Dire Straits-like song on the album in my opinion so I thought I'd post it. Here's to great music: The old and the new.

deadmandeadman says Kill To Get Crimson is indeed a fine cd. As you say, another in a long line. His two cds w/ Emmylou are to kill for. As a side note. Have you ever heard their first album on Slash Records? Its the same one Warner Bros released, but mix _radically_ different. Mark's Guitar is not so prominately displayed, the sound is _much more_ of a _band_ sound.

marknavl says I've only heard the Warner Bros. release and even that has been quite awhile ago. I no longer have it. I should stock up on some more of his/their stuff. Also Emmylou Harris is great! I should check that out too. The only thing I currently have in my collection, sorry to say, besides Kill To Get Crimson is Communique, Brothers In Arms, Private Investigations & Alchemy.

dermahrk says This is great. His singing style seems to have changed radically - and for the better. His guitar, of course, is absolutely wonderful. His pursuit of his muse down non-commercial paths should be applauded.
