One of the the greatest things I ever experienced was driving around Boston, Western Mass, Upstate NY, Vermont and around the East Coast with my ex. The one definite about our road trips was The Feelies' 2nd album The Good Earth. I can't tell you what a masterpiece of art that album is and worth trying to either find a dub of it or a used copy. I believe it is still way out of print.
Poking around work today, I found a copy of the recently released solo album from former Feelie Glenn Mercer with guest appearances from every other Feelie (Stanely, Dave and Brenda) except Bill, who still lives in Florida and hasn't done music since he packed it up and moved off.
It's difficult to explain what a Feelie concert experience was. If you were there you knew, if you weren't there you wouldn't understand.
Something about this time last year, I called for in my blog. With The Pixies, Shellac, Dinosaur, Jesus and Mary Chain reunions, it would only be fitting that The Feelies and well, Husker Du re-unite.
Mercer's solo debut brings you slightly back to that time when the little band from Jersey could but part of me and I think part of the players are missing something. It might be my ex and the roadtrips for me, and it might be Bill Million for Glenn, Dave, Stanley and Brenda. It's probably a little of both for me. But Mercer's solo album is worth you finding and discovering. http://www.pravdarecords.com

Out here, Summer can be too hot to Rap, so I prefer other indicators of the May-September times of the year. Time for the beach? War's "Summer" fits the bill for Kalbi or Teriyaki "on the barbie." Time to put on your traveling shoes? Mungo Jerry's car needs a tuneup, but "In The Summertime" makes even a traffic jam enjoyable. Will you meet that special someone? Cecilio & Kapono's "Summer Lady" is an "affirmative." One other thing, East coast doowop is missing: The Drifters' "Under The Boardwalk" doesn't need any high SPF coverings. The tradewinds die, clouds are a memory, there may be water rationing. Time for Vivaldi's "Summer" from "The Four Seasons." It's time to roll up the beach mats and bid the bright days goodbye for now. Gordon Lightfoot's "The Summer Side of Life" sums the trip back to Autumn. Have yourself an El Nino Summer!
ah hahaha - a classic ;) I lurve that show too!!!! :)
