Ok after reading a whole bunch of other peoples blogs, it kind of bothered me how many people were complaining of bands "selling out" or of others complaining of those who are not as into music as themselves discovering indie bands without the "work". Sure, there is some self gratification of knowing these hidden jems, it makes us feel special and cool to know that we have something great that not many others have. But there are some main points I feel everyone is missing.

1. Most bands are more creative when they're first starting out, hence them making better music on indie labels.

2. Being a musician, I feel that the point of music is to share it, and to share the way it makes you feel with others.

That is not to say I don't think bands sound different after signing with major labels, I think they do. To get played on the radio takes a certain sound which may make bands change to fit the bill, no pun intended. And yes, fans who don't know Death Cabs old stuff can be annoying, but that doesn't mean you have to stop liking the band, that is selling out at it's best (unless you actually don't like their new music, which is a completely different story). Instead of getting mad at them, try enlightening them to their old stuff. If they don't like it, well I guess that means they're just not as cool as you.

BTW for others who actively search for new music as most of you out there probably do, check out www.pandora.com if you haven't already. It's basically a streaming customizable radio station that you control. Seriously anyone on this website should know pandora, but check it out. For real.

As for music, get at me. Can’t stop listening to The Whitest Boy Alive - Burning. It’s catchy and upbeat, but being a guitarist, I especially enjoy the clean guitar work. Sounds like a Strat through a Fender amp, can anyone confirm? Second song of the moment is Levy - Rotten Love.

i agree with you 100%... I think the musical high horse that people get on is absolutely rediculous. If a song can do something to brighten your day, then its done its job, no matter who made it.
