The Brightblack Light of Morning!

Just saw one of the best shows of the year at the First Unitarian Church in Philly this past Sunday (June 25th, '06)... Brightblack Morning Light played with my good friends, Espers (and Mairee Sioux opening). Those guys were tapping into some powerful vibes. Two drum kits, guitar, Fender Rhodes and super processed vocals... They got into a heavy groove for the packed, sweaty house. Super mellow, with very simple progressions but way into subtlety. Gorgeous riffs explored in depth.Espers started off with super intense renditions of the first half of their set, but encountered some bad static feedback from their monitors which sort of took the wind out of their sails, unfortunately. Great show, though. If you haven't heard their new album "Espers II", you should. After the show the bands all came back to our house and chilled out... merry times had by all... Definitely catch the good people of Brightblack when they come to your town!
