SOUNDS OF FUTURE PAST AND PRESENT PERFECT

Another first!

Posted 11 months ago

I've become aware of an up tick in usage of exclamation (!) points in my posts. What am I? A used-car sales man? These mechanical beauties sell themselves. And under the hood of this mudslinger and dune roaster is some emo-power violence that is perfect for those late night beach drag races that are so popular in Long Island. Fine, blatantly just meant to suit my purposes, another great tradition in Long Island is predicting when the new glassJaw album will finally see the light of day, or at least grace us with a reliable release date. The album as of yet untitled with only a few songs recorded with instruments and even fewer have received vocal tracks from allstar Daryl Palumbo,

t has been 6 years since Worship & Tribute wowed fans (Though I think the majority of (loyal?) glassJaw fans will still point to EYWTKAS as their best work). And now, finally, something to wrap your glassjaw around, something new has emerged on the Glassjaw website, the studio version of You Think You're John Fucking Lennon. Still no word on the eventual release of a full length from the band, or even something resembling a tour. Daryl Palumbo is so busy as it is with his other projects like Head Automatica's new record and up coming tour, as well as the House of Blow's debut EP coming down the pipe line; that it is no wonder that this might take some time to fully see the light of day. Did anyone catch the supergroup United Nations' CD? He is all over that, doing vocals with Thursday's Geoff Rickly. The rest of that band is filled out rather ambiguously due to pesky contract obligations and so choose to present themselves as 4 guys where Ronald Reagan masks.

Oh yea, and the vinyl copies of their record is Abbey Road with John, Ringo, Paul, and George 'engulfed in flames'.

Very good stuff in the scream-core world though, certainly top running release of the year it that loud and abrasive world. As a supergroup, these are the other bands members 'possibly plan in': Thursday,glassJaw,HeadAutomatica,Converge,TheNumber12LooksLikeYou,MadeOutofBabies.TheLovekill.

And I am considering sticking that somewhere on my Yearly Best of 2008. I mention that as if that was something artists should be grateful to make and readers will be foaming at the mouth and bleeding at the gums over. That would be pretentious of me. I do say, it has made a remarkable sized dent in the plate of steel that are my impressions. Going to see Head Automatica for the 2nd time in January

And now that the post resembles a quick look at Daryl's projects and less of a glassJaw post, I will let it all go to shit and fizzle out in that I don't keep up with what House of Blow really is, but click the link to spark n'sizzle some Afghani Black.

space station -> I'm getting out the old collection tonight when I get home, I am seriously looking forward to it...maybe I'll find more than I'm looking for, that's what usually happens, I sit down for a 10 minute search and end up listening to a bunch of stuff for 4 hours ->

LAK -> bro, I took a hiatas or whatever you may call it -> thought about some stuff -> tripped on some peyote with some native american indians out in the Utah deserts -> OK not really, but I was thinking about that too -> taking it easy on MOG this time around and trying to find the true friends I had the first time ->

1st listen - eh, noisey, not my bag, but nice flow...
2nd listen - that chorus is kinda hooky, overcomes the screaming nicely
3rd listen - kick the tires, check the oil, can I take it for a spin?
    4th listen - SOLD!!!

(I still have no idea what this has to do with Lennon - blisters on the fingers maybe?)

first off, i want to scold myself for spelling and grammar. where did I learn to write like this? I need to go back to class!

you said it q-ball, john fucking lennon. and scotfree, not sure what it has to do with him either, but Daryl has been on the record that this his is favorite song title of theirs.

no problem, mi casa es su casa electronically speaking, happy to facilitate connections, or atleast be a forum for such

tyler, when i listen to glassJaw, I am reminded of what a huge influence there sound was for that sort of nu-metal genre in the early 00s. i'm think of bands like Finch and Story of the Year, etc. alongside that, it all starts to sound the same, but glassJaw was the FIRST! and they did what they did without other bands around to swipe from, that means alot to me

scotfree, you listened to this 4 times? way to go!

    Thanks brittany and illay!

I need punctuation therapy, and probably a good deal of it too. Clearly I am flying off the sort of handles I should be gripping more tightly. No more exclamations from me for the rest of the year. Yes, starting immediately, I am going to be a much more stable and monotoned [typed]voice, at least until my super-excited new years post, which will be a veritable minefield of exclamation points, so watch your step...
